guess The Kid Laroi and Ed/LilBaby were late releases as they haven't entered yet

Well we have a remix doing well on Apple straight away, but it isn't Ed/Lil Baby. A new version of Potter Payper's 'Gangsteritus' with added Nines is new at #43, I think this is Nines' first release since he got out of jail. It is tagged as 'Gangsteritus Part 2' so may be counted as a separate entry for chart purposes rather than being combined with the original if the Kanye situation is anything to go by (although as per usual we cannot ever assume the OCC are going to be consistent). edit: though in fairness it looks like Part 2 does have entirely new verses so separating them would make more sense on this occasion!

 

The only other newies in the Apple top 200 so far are Liam Gallagher's 'Better Days' at #129, Florence + The Machine's 'Free' at #197 and some Pusha T album tracks:

Laroi hasn't shown up on Apple Music UK yet which surprises me, he's song #1 on the advertised New Music Daily playlist and I don't believe he'd be doing badly enough to not be top 200 by now. He's not top 200 in the US yet either, though he's #26 in Australia :thinking:

I think you mean HH? Pretty sure I remember first listening to the Levitating remix on NMF.

 

Spotify has updated, but the highest songs to have an actual new peak are 10 Things I Hate About You at #43 and No Role Modelz at #75.

Levitating remix wasn't on NMF upon release and only got added to HH the following week.

Spotify has updated, but the highest songs to have an actual new peak are 10 Things I Hate About You at #43 and No Role Modelz at #75.

 

Looking out for 'No Role Modelz' to enter the top 10 on US Spotify for the first time ever one of these days - it's back up to its peak of #11 today and only 10k off #10. It's basically the US Spotify chart's equivalent of 'Mr. Brightside', being the longest charting song in the top 200 by a significant margin (2,295 days and counting). Of course 'Mr. Brightside' only finally got a top 10 peak on UK Spotify pretty recently so would be appropriate enough for 'No Role Modelz' to follow suit in the US.

 

Have just been investigating to see if I could find why this song is peaking again recently, most of the recent YouTube comments are about the poorly aged lyric referencing Will and Jada Smith :lol: but it had been in the weekly top 100 for a few weeks before the Oscars (and in the weekly top 200 ever since the start of 2021 including having one previous week in the top 100 in May) so I don't think that has boosted it that much. I guess it must just be a song that's been perennially viral on TikTok and has happened to be even moreso in the last few weeks. Either that or it's been doing the same numbers for ages and the position that gets it to just keeps getting higher. Of course its near-continuous run on US Spotify long predates TikTok even existing.
