April 4, 20223 yr Great for Harry - might fall slightly short of 100k but still in contention. Waiting On A Miracle in at 49. :cheer: Shame it’s too late for it to go Top 40 and shame it’s not Dos Oruguitas but hey.
April 4, 20223 yr So what seem likely for Harry’s end of week sales based on todays 36,400?? Maybe 65,000 or is that too much??
April 4, 20223 yr Mmmhmmm I’m sure Ed knows nothing ;):P From the Music Week sales report when the Peru remix first came out Released in August, Peru scraped into the Top 100 for the first time for Nigerian star Fireboy DML eight weeks ago, and reached its prior peak of No.89 five weeks ago. With prior consumption of 66,971 units, the track is the highest new entry on the Top 75 this week, debuting at No.28 (24,697 sales). It is now credited to Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran, with the latter singing the third verse of the track and adding vocal seasoning elsewhere on a new mix. Sheeran, of course, is also No.1 with Elton John (Merry Christmas) and No.29 on LadBaby’s Sausage Rolls For Everyone, where he and Elton get a ‘featuring’ credit. He also continues to chart with Overpass Graffiti (31-40, 20,139 sales) and Shivers (37-42, 19,629 sales). Does that mean Sheeran is a primary artist on four tracks? Apparently not, according to the OCC. It states that Peru is a Fireboy DML release but adds that “we agreed to change the credit in the chart to the remix version as it is the remix that has powered the track into the Top 40. How tracks are actually listed is up to the releasing company, whether it is feat., &, x or other. We do not change these as they may be contractual.” It's not some big Ed conspiracy
April 4, 20223 yr So what seem likely for Harry’s end of week sales based on todays 36,400?? Maybe 65,000 or is that too much?? Way over 65k as there’s data missing - think at least 90k.
April 4, 20223 yr From the Music Week sales report when the Peru remix first came out It's not some big Ed conspiracy And can’t the same be said for the Mariah remix? Big Energy’s been out since September 2021 and it just happens to chart here for the first time after the Mariah remix is released? I don’t remember calling it a conspiracy, I’m sure it’s more likely Ed’s the only one who cares enough about it to make sure he’s credited. The OCC did admit that if a remix is the reason for a song’s sudden surge in popularity the featured artist should be credited so maybe they should be more consistent with that? The OCC did admit that if a remix is the reason for a song’s sudden surge in popularity the featured artist should be credited so maybe they should be more consistent with that? Latto's label haven't requested Mariah (and DJ Khaled) be credited though - this is the far more common scenario and Peru is the outlier here (see also: Despacito getting Bieber added and Goosebumps getting Travis Scott added as other rare outliers). That's not quite what the OCC admitted - the label requested to change the credit and the OCC agreed because the remix was the reason Peru was climbing so fast. If they're not being asked to change the credit, they don't change them otherwise because of the reason specified later in that quote. They're actually being consistent.
April 4, 20223 yr Way over 65k as there’s data missing - think at least 90k. Oh really?? I didn’t realise there was data missing…how exciting😁
April 4, 20223 yr Oh really?? I didn’t realise there was data missing…how exciting😁 For future reference, there's almost always a full day of Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube data missing, they report their figures a day behind schedule...!
April 4, 20223 yr Red hot chilli peppers on decent sales, hopefully 30k by the end of the week but sales outside them look pretty poor. Hopefully there is daya missing for Harry styles as I was expecting higher but even if there is no missing data he is doing very well and safely has his 2nd number 1.

It does sound like somewhat of a conspiracy if labels only care enough about certain artists (Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber) to ensure they’re credited, that doesn’t sound fair to me. Not even saying it’s the OCC, it may be consistent with their rules but it’s clear certain artists are given preferential treatment Edited April 4, 20223 yr by No Sleeep

Not even saying it’s the OCC, it may be consistent with their rules but it’s clear certain artists are given preferential treatment Perhaps there'd be a case for "preferential treatment" if there was more than a whole 1 example per artist. They're outliers/exceptions to the rule. If Latto's label were to request a credit change then I'm sure the OCC would oblige, but they obviously haven't and that's all there is to it. It's not some big conspiracy to stop Mariah getting a low top 100 hit to her name...!
April 4, 20223 yr For future reference, there's almost always a full day of Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube data missing, they report their figures a day behind schedule...! Thank you so much for letting me know🥰 I’m not good with all this stuff, I tend to only keep track when Harry releases music😂
April 4, 20223 yr For future reference, there's almost always a full day of Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube data missing, they report their figures a day behind schedule...! And don't forget the final chart has the thursday streams estimated for the same reason. No-one knows how accurate their predictive mechanism is, but we haven't had any changes so presumably they are close enough for the record companies to not complain. I expect if there are any really close no.1s (a few 100 sales or less in it) the record compnaies may try and look into it to check their artist hasn't been cheated, though I'm not sure how readily accessible the data is to the record companies...
April 4, 20223 yr I really hope the Wanted can hold up in the T10 albums. I do too but would also be happy if they can stay top 20.
April 4, 20223 yr Harry Styles is not only bigger than any solo Spice bar Victoria Beckham and True Steppers, but he is now bigger than thr Spices themselves too!!! New legemd?? :o
April 4, 20223 yr THIS IS A DISGRACE!!! I JIST KISTENED TO HAIRY STYLINGS NEW SANG AND IT ISN'T A PATCH ON OUT OF YOUR MIND, NOT SUCH AN INNOCENT GIRL, LET YOIR HEAD GO, THIS GROOVE, MY LOVE (IS FOR REAL), GOIN' DOWN, OH YEAH FEEL SO GOOD, STOP RIGHT NOW, TELL ME, OTHET HALF OF ME, ANGEL IN CHAINS, NORTHERN STAR, YET IT WILL BTEEZE TO NO.1 AND THOSE TECHNICALLY NEVET MADE IT!!!!

I don’t agree with the OCC’s reasoning at all, “may be contractual” so why can Billboard change credits whenever they like? If a remix sells more than the original that should be the version charting surely?
