I'm not sure how but this completely went under my radar! Last week, Editors released their first new music since 2019 with 'Heart Attack', and also announced that electronic musician/producer Blanck Mass is now an official member of the band!

Wow. That's really interesting. For some reason it reminds me of Muse. I love the style of the video too.

Was not aware of the connection between Blanck Mass and Editors before so that seemed a little random but sounds promising!

(Blanck Mass is also one half of Fuck Buttons)

Partially due to playing Jade's recap video and saw this as the first song and it sounded interesting from the few seconds. Now I've checked out the full song and it's very instant and cool. I like the production especially.

Yeh been listening to this a lot this week and it’s a return to form by them, haven’t listened to one of their albums in a decade or so!
Aw glad this was a good discovery for you! I did think the previous release 'Heart Attack' was enjoyable enough but this one was a step up *.*
Def a step up, though I know they took a brake and that lead singer did an album with another artist last year didn’t he?

Oh yeah can't remember what it was but he appeared in BJSC last year with another band I think. Or artist which sounded good.

To be honest I'm not even a major fan but I did like 'Smokers..' and the singles from that album and 'Papillon' so this song definitely intrigued me after not hearing much from them in a decade either.

Decided to pre-order the vinyl of this, the singles are much better than I was expecting from them

This album is great! Very Depeche Mode in parts, I’ve liked all of the singles to varying degrees but particularly Vibe which feels like the most commercial single they’ve released in years, what a chorus and production *.* Karma Climb, Kiss and Educate are really good too, among others.

I see their last three studio albums peaked at No.5 or No.6 but I’d like to think this has a solid chance of going top three!

Looking back at this thread I actually completely forgot about Blanck Mass joining the band  but his influence has definitely been a good one clearly as I loved all of the first 3 singles ('Karma Climb' is my fave of the 3), looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.

Hoping this album will at least be top 5 for them, not sure if top 3 is in reach though (5SOS and D-Block Europe I assume will be the top 2 and I can see Editors being behind Sports Team too, also saw the other day that there's a physical re-release of ABBA Gold apparently).

I think this is their strongest album to date, or at least up there with their debut. It's not perfect but it's well produced and has some really catchy stuff on it.

Anyone else enjoying this then?

There always seems to be one pretty straight forward singalong indie record that I like each year and I think this is the one for 2022.

Picturesque is certainly their best for quite some time. I usually listen to new Editors songs when they're released but they tend to be 50/50 as to whether I add them to playlists to listen more regularly, might check out the whole album but been a while since I'd have been compelled to do that with one of theirs.
