Ooh Pale Waves’ “Lies” is at #192 on Apple!

I am guessing Tom Santa - Rainfall is there because of TikTok, it is certainly about time another electronic dance song became big on TikTok. It is another very minimalistic instrumental dance track so I am not sure whether I like it much.

It doesn’t appear to be big on TikTok

 

It’s got a few videos with it but most of them date back a few months

Oh interesting, must be nightclub airplay then, the traditional way a dance song becomes big! I quite like the original Mary Mary song but this remix is a bit repetitive.

I wonder if 'Space Man' could be in contention with number #1 next week? I don't think it will manage it but I think top three is a possibility especially with it being #1 on Apple Music and Amazon.

 

It probably should manage top three this week I'm guessing especially with it's lead on iTunes, never though I'd see the day where we had a stable eurovision song with a decent chart run.

This is track #3 on the Summer Hits UK playlist, thats why it's top 200 on Spotify

sadly there is no way for dance music to chart naturally without playlist backup

But they become songs on important playlists by becoming big outside of Spotify and apple playlists surely?

don't think so, labels send big checks and songs are added to playlists, there's zero buzz for dance songs most of the time prior to being added

Diaspora voting always heavily affects our televote, Lithuania and Poland will almost always do well for that reason but their songs rarely do anything here commercially.

 

I’m quite impressed with S10’s performance, being a Dutch language song, Brividi really hasn’t done commercially well considering how massive it’s been in Italy. It has never struck me as being particularly great personally, or near the quality of Soldi/Fai Rumore/Zitti E Buoni.

ohh I love Brividi, all my Italian friends are obsessed with it, I personally think it's an amazing amazing song

It's not very Eurovision-esque though so not surprised it's doing poorly in the UK

I really like 'Brividi' too although I think the magic of it peaked at Sanremo festival for me

 

Eagerly anticipating today's Spotify update!

Glad to see Kalush Orchestra overtaking Subwoolfer to have the highest non-UK song on Apple, looking forward to seeing where they land on Spotify (no update yet).

 

Really don't understand what business Malik Harris has being one of the more downloaded and streamed songs of the year, it was an awful song that deservedly bombed (and it was only 15th on the UK televote, although as discussed above that doesn't necessarily correlate that well with the commercial performance of the songs tbf). S10 doing so well is surprising too, that song also didn't do much for me but might be a grower. The rest makes sense although shame there is no sign of the Moldovan song yet, hope that will make it on Spotify.

Spaceman moved up to track #5 on HH yay

Kendrick-Die Hard moved up to track #1 and Lizzo up to track #7

 

They also added 21 Reasons very high as track #11 :) I know someone in here is gonna be very happy

They also added another Kendrick album track (N95) very high up to (track #15)
