I've never joined one before and this actually sounds like fun but Sundays aren't generally good for me as I'm always out and about or doing family stuff!

Would be lovely to have you if you can make it sometime Mangø! We have discussed the timing before and I do think the consensus is that the current slot works best for most.

I suggest we skip “Wonderwall” as even though it’s brilliant we probably hear it much more than the rest of the list.

Starter for 10:

Common People

Born Slippy

A Design For Life

Views?

There are FAR too many classics here for a selection of 3 to do them justice :o

If forced to do, so I would say (in chronological order):

Set You Free, Common People, Children

but in any other week, I would be putting forward:

Slight Return, A Design For Life, Born Slippy

and I haven't even mentioned Alright, Roll With It, Wonderwall and The *actual* Beatles

Agree on Common People, A design for life and Born slippy
also agree no need for Wonderwall, there are already 2 Oasis #1s in the same session, no need fo a 3rd track

I agree, we don't really need to create an opportunity to listen to Wonderwall.

The Manics also have two #1s later on, although neither matched the impact of A Design For Life.

Roll With It has to be played for its part in one of the most famous races for number one.

There are plenty of other great choices, specifically

Common People

Children

No More I Love Yous

Alright

A Design For Life

Free As A Bird could also be chosen as it was an attempt at another Beatles chart-topper.

Wonderwall is a great song but I'm inclined to agree that we should go with songs that aren't plated as much as that.

Oh man, two wonderful years for #2s, almost impossible to pick three from that bunch.

But I agree A Design for Life, Born Slippy, and Common People seem a good compromise (Common People is a must, especially as bloody Robson and Jerome of all people kept that off the top). Roll With It and Wonderwall have never been huge favourites from Oasis so I'm happy to leave them.

(Although I must say I do prefer the Manics' upcoming number 1, however unpopular an opinion that is, so I'll nominate Children or Alright in it's place x)

'Born Slippy' and 'A Design For Life' are definitely my top 2 of those I think, and 'Common People' is great too so I'd be more than happy to stick to those 3 (I'd probably put 'Children' to complete my personal top 3 though).

I suppose I wouldn't be opposed to a one off #2s listenthrough although would be slightly undermining the plan to go through all the #2s some time in the future!

Nice idea Jim - though I’m not free next Wednesday and as Bray said we will cover them eventually even if it seems a long time away with doing #1 albums first!

OK something to look forward to in 2024 then, or however long it takes to get through a track from each of the fake cassette assisted 1-week #1 albums of the last few years :kink: although I'm looking forward to that too and discovering some new music!

Sounds like a consensus around the 3 songs you suggested for Sunday, with Children as a possible 4th?

Edited by jimwatts

but not 4 please, I think 3 is already overkilling it

and should actually be just 1

we have to restrain ourselves :D
