I'd say go with whichever you prefer. Depends if you want to say It Wasn't Me had a 31-1 climb, or entered at #1 with the import peaking twice at #31 - something of a Schrodinger's situation

9pm (Till I Come) would be complicated to track as it had multiple imports charting, some of them at the same time!

at the end of the day, it's not that important, half of the sessions haven't had the chart runs

Anyone want a second hand CD of “The Stonk” for £15?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/stonk-Smile-song-V...00091H5H?nodl=1

No I thought not. However, it does seem to prove that it was indeed a double A side and that we should have played “The Smile Song”. Therefore instead of repeating a track tomorrow I will start with “The Smile Song” at 4. Tune in promptly if you want to hear it - it’s not essential but much better than “The Stonk” at least!

Tbh you cannot rely on the covers, the OCC should be the rule imho

Funnily if you follow the link, there is the cover for the KWS, and there is no mention of the double a-side

Better to play more than less if any doubt. Consider it an offering to the Chart Gods!

Incidentally there’s quite a lot to get through and I’d really like to finish at the end of ‘96 with “2 Become 1” (there’s quite a lot before it that we wouldn’t want to finish on), and also need to fit in our fabulous #2 choices. We might run over by 10-15 minutes therefore - hope that’s OK.

Thanks so much all for an epic session yesterday and especially to newbie Dot for joining. Hope you can make some more!

I think I’d prefer to skip the Bank Holiday weekend on 5 June - sorry about that.

Also looking ahead I have a problem with Sunday 19 June as I am tied up after 1pm. Therefore (sorry Bray) I am wondering if people would be OK to do 9am-12 as a one-off? Otherwise of course someone else can host without me, but purely from a selfish point of view I don’t think I’ve missed a single song since the beginning so would prefer to rearrange.

Have a great week everyone! x

Great session yesterday, even with all the Robson & Jerome songs :D

19 June is Father's Day so might be one to skip as I imagine several people will have plans.

Yeah let’s skip 5 June and 19 June - we’re due to finish in September anyway I think - so well before the anniversary in November.
So for the #2s next week, could I make an opening offer of Tubthumping, Sunchyme and Torn. I know Bitter Sweet Symphony will be hugely popular, but we’ll hear The Drugs Don’t Work anyway in the main session.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make the next session due to work so feel free to disregard my opinion but i'd vote for Tubthumping, Lovefool & Bitter Sweet Symphony.

I'd say we need to include Sash as they had so many #2s and never a #1, cannot even recall how many #2s they got, 4 or 5 I think

I'd also say Torn definitely cos Natalie had 2 #2s

and then Tubthumping

don't think Sunchyme deserves it, a very random track, cannot even recall how it goes, hardly a classic like Born Slippy or Children

Sash deserves it more and I don't even like Sash

But I'm also probably not here next time, I'm flying back from Dublin and I'll be on a stop-over at Gatwick, so might be able to listen but to 100% sure

Sorry about that Dot.

Enjoy the frames Bjork!

Great that the #2 opinions are flowing already - here's the period we're likely to cover:

619 Backstreet Boys - Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) 1997

620 No Mercy - Where Do You Go 1997

621 Warren G - I Shot The Sheriff 1997

622 Sash - Encore Une Fois 1997

623 Kula Shaker - Hush 1997

624 Boyzone - Isn't It A Wonder 1997

625 Supergrass - Richard III 1997

626 Blur - Song 2 1997

627 Robbie Williams - Old Before I Die 1997

628 George Michael - Star People '97 1997

629 Cardigans - Lovefool 1997

630 Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli - Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partiro) 1997

631 Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony 1997

632 Sash feat. Rodriguez - Ecuador 1997

633 Boyzone - Picture Of You 1997

634 Gala – Freed from Desire 1997

635 Chumbawamba - Tubthumping 1997

636 George Michael - You Have Been Loved / The Strangest Thing '97 1997

637 Dario G - Sunchyme 1997

638 Oasis - Stand By Me 1997

639 Sash feat. La Trec - Stay 1997

640 Natalie Imbruglia - Torn 1997

641 Boyzone / Stephen Gately - Baby Can I Hold You / Shooting Star 1997

642 Bamboo - Bamboogie 1998

643 Backstreet Boys - All I Have To Give 1998

644 Natalie Imbruglia - Big Mistake 1998

645 Spice Girls - Stop 1998

646 Busta Rhymes - Turn It Up / Fire It Up 1998

647 Madonna - Ray Of Light 1998

648 Brandy & Monica - The Boy Is Mine 1998

649 Mousse T vs Hot 'N' Juicy – Horny 1998

650 Fat Les - Vindaloo 1998

Song 2, Bitter Sweet Symphony, and Ray Of Light are iconic #2s, but as we'll be hearing #1s from the same albums in the session, I'm happy to pass on those.

So I'll just nominate Sash! - Encore Une Fois

If this session goes up to 3 Lions '98, will we get as far as early 2000 in the following session? Not sure I can make the one after that on 26 June - was hoping I wouldn't miss The Masses Against The Classes, but not the end of the world if I do of course.

Julian, feel free to correct me, but if we’re running at a rate of about 45 songs per session (including the 3 number #2s) - then the one on 26 June would probably finish in or around Mambo No 5 maybe? Manics the following the week, so you should be OK Jim :)

Edited by chartjack2

Ah, so it'll be the one after Lou Bega that I'm likely to miss, so I guess that'll include the Manics and maybe also Eiffel 65, ah well never mind
