July 15, 20232 yr The series is iconic enough with The Five Doctors. These DVD collections are quite popular and they're making all the right choices with which ones to reissue. 80s Doctor Who is my fave era from the classics. As for the trailer, loved that little Tegan and Nyssa reunion and The Mara featuring too!
July 28, 20231 yr Not looking forward to Ncuti at all. I think he will be even worse than Jodi! His acting is poor. That Coribation Street woman PLUS A SINGER!!! Also look like very bad companions. Apparently rhe Coronation Street one has a right attitude on her on set! However!!! Before then, Amy Pond and Capaldi and River Song are all rumoured to be back foe the anniversary!!!
September 22, 20231 yr Subwave network has been reopened, trailer tomorrow. Possible Harriet Jones, Torchwood, Martha or Rose comeback confirmation. Edited September 22, 20231 yr by Rough_edges
September 22, 20231 yr This is so exciting (though I very much doubt a Harriet return considering her demise at the end of Series 4). A Torchwood return would be lovely considering that's where the subwave network was transferred to, however Torchwood 3 was destroyed at the start of Children of Earth so who knows where it actually ended up.
September 22, 20231 yr That won't happen. The events have occurred and they won't rewrite it. RTD may choose not to feature/mention it but this is Doctor Who they love to revisit past stories/companions every now again
September 24, 20231 yr I was trying to work out the link between The Doctor and The Toymaker and it turns out he originally appeared back in 1966(!) during the First Doctor's run
September 24, 20231 yr The trailer looks absolutely incredible, the budget is showing already, Doctor Who has never looked better. I am SO excited for November!! 2 years today since the news of RTD's comeback was announced!
September 24, 20231 yr Looks so good!! We will have some good episodes before that doctor with the arrogant grin in everything he's ever been in, and that even more arrogant woman from Corrie, who clearly doesn't even want to be there - those rumours of the on-set diva behaviour, yikes - ruin it. Shame that 10 and Doctor Donna aren't gonna do the full series :( We deserve an extra FULL season of those two together!!!!

October 13, 20231 yr I feel like this is gonna be the start of something special. Honestly that trailer is fantastic so I am definitely excited. I've still not finished season 13. Unfortunately. I've just started rewatching the revival and have currently just got the end of David Tennant's last set of specials, the trailer got me excited about doctor who again so I decided to start from the beginning of the revival series. Hopefully this time I'll make it to the end of season 13 and again, hopefully before the next new episode airs. I will categorically say that #doctordonna is my favourite pairing and they way it worked in to the overall plot was fantastic. I really can't wait to see what RTD, David & Catherine have in store for the specials.
October 26, 20231 yr A bit disappointing that they're waiting until after the actual anniversary to air the episodes (and even longer to wait!!) :( but I am SO hyped nonetheless - the posters for each of the episodes has me so excited!
November 22, 20231 yr Reviews are appearing online and they are glowing. I was already hyped for Saturday but they've taken me to the stars.
November 23, 20231 yr A bit disappointing that they're waiting until after the actual anniversary to air the episodes (and even longer to wait!!) :( but I am SO hyped nonetheless - the posters for each of the episodes has me so excited! Except that they marked the actual anniversary with a colourised version of the original Dalek story. A chance to play "Spot the episode endings".
November 24, 20231 yr loved all the doctor/companion returns for special feature length showings of the old episodes, esp Jamie & Zoe, only been waiting 54 years for the crime of wiping their memories (Donna wasnt the first) to be repaired. It's like having a part of you surgically removed without your permission, so morally wrong. Gladdened my heart. Unlike the colourised edited version of The Doctors. I was one of the Dalek-mania generation (and I have the artwork and schoolbook reviews of 64/65 episodes to prove it, aged 6/7) and have just rewatched the episodes. They are a bit slow, a bit padded, so I thought this might be a good idea to speed it up a bit. Yeah, not. I don;t object to the colouring too much, though it removes the metallic, grey atmosphere of the dark originals and sticks in garish blocks of pinks and reds, and Dalek dials looking more like those 80's garish kiddie hand console games remembering the order of lights or answering quiz questions. Who knew Daleks had such a colour obsession! But no, my real annoyance was the new soundtrack, a completely inappropriate synth disco orchestral party going on regardless of what was happening at any given moment and drowning out the dialogue. Very annoying. I went and rewatched the soundtrack-free originals again, and the tension and mood was much more menacing than this jolly musical romp as Daleks burn through doors and murder randomly. Some times less is more.
November 24, 20231 yr I've never watched The Daleks all the way through before but thought I'd give it a go with the colourisation of it and really enjoyed it! It was really tense at some moments and for a second ever episode of a show a strong output. Whilst it was much shorter than the original release, I didn't feel like anything seemed to be critically missing? Really loved the rescore to the opening titles and the start in black and white with the TARDIS sounds/materialisation effects being updated. The 'coming soon' element showing the first Doctors stories in colour is exciting, maybe we'll get them too at some point?
November 24, 20231 yr The Daleks in Colour was a choice... The actual colourisation I thought was fantastic - but the music was ridiculous at times and really intrusive. It took any tension from forming away. Also the flashbacks to something which happened 5 minutes ago was jarring. Reading on another forum, it was to cover the severe cuts that had taken place - i'm guessing the music was done to cover the same. At times it felt like a montage of things rather than a proper story. I'm not saying the Daleks couldn't be cut down as yeah 7 episodes is long and at times things could be cut out. But it needed at least another 15 minutes to let the thing breath a bit. But as a colourisation exercise, i'd say it was a success. In terms of editing and music though it was lacklustre - especially the escape with Ian in the Dalek. It went into jazz funk mode
