Many of the forums are doing singles sound clashes so i thought it might be interesting to do an album version of Kylies studio albums, vote for your favourite album in each round.

I still really enjoy both these albums but I prefer enjoy yourself.

Kylie

The singles from Kylie overall i would prefer to enjoy yourself apart from Never too late but i prefer more of the non singles from enjoy yourself to Kylie.

I dunno, I want to say Enjoy Yourself because the highs are higher but I find all the ballads on it atrocious.

I dont mind the ballads too much but Kylies ballads definitely improved on her later albums with songs such as bittersweet goodbye.

After much deliberation, I've gone with 'Kylie'. At first I thought 'Enjoy Yourself' had higher highs, but both are pretty equal on that front, it's just I return to the highs of 'Enjoy Yourself' more, then her debut gets the edge by flowing much better and working better as a package.

I'll always have nostaligia towards these 2 albums. I discovered these gems when my mother bought me the debut on vinyl on my 6th birthday & then had the 2nd also on vinyl at X-Mas of the same year & I instantly fell in love with Kylie, discovering this iconic legendary artist in the making as well as my obvious homosexuality :blush:. These albums were the start of my Kylie journey which still continues to this day. Everything we know and love about Kylie can be traced back to these 2 albums, the joy I instantly felt at discovering these cheery tunes which stands as an important part of her discography as whether you like these early efforts or not, or you prefer her later stuff, that without the mammoth success they had, then we wouldn't have had the artist we know and love today.

I know i've already voted & commented, but I really wanted to do deeper with my thoughts. Kylie & Enjoy Yourself are both fantastic in their own rights. The debut was a fantastic first effort the first 6 out of 10 tracks were singles in some way or form around the globe, which makes this rather front loaded & the remaining 4 are decent but they don't compare to any of the top 6. but they're still enjoyable pure 80's pop. This is such a quick listen and set the template for all that's followed.

The follow-up was what got my vote in this round as its a much stronger collection that eclipses the predecesser in many ways, offering harder and more refined pop anthems with heartfelt ballads that compliment each other beautifully, as well as Kylie's vocals which have improved greatly since her debut a year earlier. A lot of great moments on here such as the killer first 3 singles, the title track & 'Im Over Dreaming (Over You)' being the obivous standouts.


So what do you guys think of my rambling thoughts, I want to go more indepth with each of her albums in the following rounds.

I agree with everything you said, these albums are a huge part of why we love Kylie, catchy brilliant pop songs and Kylie had that warm innocence about her that just people to her.

Enjoy yourself does what the title says it just allows you to enjoy yourself when listening to it. It's easy to forget how huge both these albums were as we're all the singles and tgey are the reason Kylie has had such a huge music career.
