Posted May 13, 20223 yr With the cost of living still rising, I thought I’d make a thread to report and track price changes to streaming services which are set to increase in the near future. Netflix announced this week it’s plan to increase prices across all subscription plans from next month; @1525011766052327424 It’s believed Now TV will follow suit. Amazon Prime Video hasn’t yet announced changes. Apple TV+ also yet to announce any price increases. Any further news will be shared here.
May 13, 20223 yr Netflix announced a price hike here in Canada as well. A few other regional streaming services here also announced price increases. I’ve been doing “Group Buys” for all my streaming services (currently: Crave, Disney+ as well as AppleOne). I just paid $34 for another year of Disney+
May 13, 20223 yr I want to see the Sparks documentary on Netflix but I'm not a subscriber at the moment. I think I'll find a few other things I might like to watch and then subscribe for a month before cancelling it.
May 13, 20223 yr I quit Netflix last month due to the previous price increase and the fact I’m getting very little from it compared to how I used too. Disney+ is much more appealing for me. I’ve only got Netflix until next Wednesday. I may join up for a month again when some of the shows I like have built up again but I won’t really miss it.
May 13, 20223 yr This isn't this surprising though really is it? Inflation drives everything up. The Market is saturated with really good streamers now, and big companies have thrown money at it. I think Netflix made a bit of mistake focusing in algorithm content and neglecting on quality as this is where other companies have fought back against them. Suspect we will just see loads of plans cheaper in the future but with advertisements included.
May 13, 20223 yr Sky pay for my Netflix sub so their price rises don’t impact me at the moment. I am keeping one eye on Disney and Amazon. I already killed off DAZN, they went from 8€ to 15€ to 30€?!?!?! Absolutely f***ing ridiculous. I refuse to pay that. I only pay 40€ for Sky including sport and Bundesliga
May 14, 20223 yr Does the 40 yo-yo include Broadband Silias? Seems a good price! Nah just the TV. But that’s everything apart from Film and UHD. Compared to the UK it’s fab. 5€ a month for all Sport (ex Bundesliga) is incredible Sky Germany don’t offer broadband
May 14, 20223 yr I see, I pay 80 quid a month for everything with the sport but that includes broadband which is normally 30 quid or so so expensive but you get a lot!
