After the hysteria of the Disco week it all feels a bit flat for Tension - it’s an amazing album and I’ve had the best week at Kylie events etc., but the lack of a chart battle and the fact it’s a given has taken away some of the excitement

I agree, the disco release week was so intense and it was non stop, as tension is so far ahead and guaranteed number 1 the buzz isn't on the same level.

We have to now work on totals for year end and keeping Tension top 40/top 75 up until An Audience With in December. Also the singles very important!

LOL I know. What a testament to our Queen's longevity though, 35 yrs into her career and outselling the top 20! At this point, BMG is probably focusing on healthy 1st week sales for Tension unlike the chess game for Disco vs Confetti.

Edited to add: seeing the LM fans diss Kylie that week was absolute fun, lol

From my experience Kylie fans were actually worse lol.

But that was a fun (if tense) week. I do love a good chart battle and seeing artists fight for the number 1 (as they should!) with discounts, other variants and extra bundles etc..

I think the chart battle brought out the worst in both fanbases. Thankfully I think there was a big circle of fans on Buzzjack that were level-headed and could see the chart battle for the light-hearted, innocent rivalry it was and were pleased to see two successful female acts both pulling in impressive numbers.

There was a lot of shit to sieve through though, don't get me wrong!

Agreed! I imagine it was worse for you being a chart mod

I'm happy to see 'Tension' on track to out perform 'DISCO'. Absolutely deserved and promo in the 2nd week is smarter than having it in the first week, imo. Especially for someone who has such a big fanbase. It'll help keep the album from free falling (not that she was going to free fall anyway) but it should hold up better than original expectations (i.e. a 1-3 drop as opposed to a 1-6 drop or something) idk what is even out next week? Ed and Drake?

I can't tell you the amount of times threads were locked for cooling off periods!

Agreed on the promo for second week. Even without a performance, Graham Norton should give a nice boost and I imagine the news of Kylie hitting #1 will be making all the headlines all weekend. Drake is releasing on 6th October, but Ed is releasing Friday. There's also Jorja Smith releasing who might have a decent opening week. Both 'Golden' and 'Disco' remained above 10k in their second weeks, unsure if 'Tension' will do the same but I doubt it'll be far off. Olivia Rodrigo will presumably be ahead too.

I think she will need 6k to stay top 10 next week. i am confident with a few BMG tricks she should do it.

I want to know what she doing with Gaby Roslyn!!!!!

Does anyone know what the Children In Need song is this year? Hold On To Now would be fun

I guess the European Music awards on 5th Nov is too close to 1st weekend in Vegas......

Any signs of doing Piano Room?

The gig is intrigunig me tomorrow as nothing has been said of it yet surely it is going to get some coverage? O2 & Virgin? Surprise Live Stream?

I do hope they stream it hun

That would be good

I hope it is filmed

Is be surprised if it falls far, is there any evidence this is more frontloaded than Disco? I mean, that fell to #5 in the second week and this seems stronger on every possible metric.

Exactly I can’t see it getting a massive week 2 slump - the Disco era was fierce with multi-buying and managed to stay Top 5 in week 2 so expect the same for this.

Question is.....

Will they be brave enough to say her 9th number 1 album on G Norton on Thursday when they film it.... hahaha, probably just say 'heading to number 1'

I don't think Tension is going to make Silver this week... :nocheer:

Even if it doesn't the amount it's sold even today is incredible. But who knows what will happen over the next couple of days?

Honestly, I hope they do! Such a comfy lead.
