I think trickle sales gain greatly from price reductions especially in places like supermarkets. I know with many cds i intentionally wait until they are reduced in price before i buy them as i know if i hold off i will save money, with Kylie i always buy straight away as i dont have the patence to wait but will buy extra formats as i go a long when they are reduced.

That’s part of the problem though why price reductions are having less impact - hardly anywhere is selling them, my local Asda has a Top 10 (mainly compilations and GH) and my local Tesco has a Top 3 (!).

The supermarket availability really has decreased which is a huge shame as it was always a great way for the casuals to pick up cds when doing the shopping. I hope the day comes when supermarkets go the other way again and start stocking more cds as i know some of them stock some vinyl.

In a way that's kind of similar to what happened around 2010 when CD singles were ceasing to be as readily available in shops, and how that affected her performance in the singles chart.

Also looks like Tension just missed out on a year-end top 100 placing :(

Ultimately only fans are buying physicals these days, a small but decent vinyl collecting market too. Otherwise even the £1 CD in Poundland aren’t bought.

Streaming has taken most of the casual market share.

Tension deluxe cd has been £15.99 pretty much since its release despite dropping quickly out of the charts. That’s more expensive than many other more mainstream acts like Ed Sheeran, P!nk or Lewis Capaldi so I’m not surprised there is little demand for the physical product outside her core fan base. Of course, any promotion will help boost sales to some degree.

10/10 coming to save the era and restore singles chart success and send the album catapulting up the charts

I’ve seen a post on Facebook stating Kylie is set to tour in Australia this year but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. Not sure how true this is given she is still tied into Vegas.

Underwhelming

Hi my huns

Do we know how many weekly streams each song on Tension actually gets?

Would be good to see how much higher Tension and HOTN actually are compared to the other album tracks.

I am hoping for another single.
