May 21, 20232 yr Think it’s pretty harsh what some have said about City here I mean it’s not like they only formed in 2010 they’ve been around forever and just had investment to lift them up. There’s always been that Manchester derby rivalry long before City got £££. The irony is a lot of Man United fans complaining about City and their fans don’t live in the city of Manchester and support Man United….yes because they won so much between 1992-2013 a whole generation.
May 21, 20232 yr Author Leeds manager Sam Allardyce fears it will be a "big ask" to secure Premier League survival, particularly if injured attackers Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo are not fit for next week's final game against Tottenham. Three seasons after they were promoted to the top flight, Leeds know they will be relegated back to the Championship if they fail to beat Spurs.

The irony is a lot of Man United fans complaining about City and their fans don’t live in the city of Manchester and support Man United….yes because they won so much between 1992-2013 a whole generation. It's not harsh at all and it's not about where you live, by that logic Liverpool for example could be brought into the equation for having fans that don't live in Merseyside. The point is when you start watching football and choose a team to support that should be it for life, so it's hard to believe that many grown up Manchester City fans of now where supporting the team when they were playing lower league football in the late 90's or even prior to that. Or that they supported the team when they got relegated from the Premier League in 2001 or were a mid table team for much of the 2000's.
May 22, 20232 yr The last survey I am aware of (over a decade ago) showed that Liverpool were the club with the most supporters not living within the natural "catchment area". The survey was done at a time when Man U were dominant and Liverpool were rarely challenging for honours.
May 22, 20232 yr I wonder if this will be the first season in PL history where 75% of the teams who made the top 4 last season didn't make it this season. Definitely been quite the shake-up. This is why I think Arsenal & Newcastle won't make it next season.

Of course fans will come from all over the place but most city fans are prob from Manchester whereas United are a more global brand currently but the same thing will happen as city increasingly dominate as generations grow up and start to support them just like what happened in the 90s with United. I did always find it interesting how English people didn’t support their local team especially in a big city!

This is why I think Arsenal & Newcastle won't make it next season. It's so competitive out there, Liverpool have been terrible this season but will likely be 1-4 points off a CL place knowing they will strengthen in the summer. I can't see Chelsea being as much of a mess. Arsenal and Newcastle will both strengthen and both teams are going to have to negotitate playing their first team twice a week. 5 places next season too as long as we do OK in Europe too collectively.
May 23, 20232 yr Author Buyako Saka has signed a new deal to stay at Arsenal until 2027, saying the club "is the right place to make the next step". The England forward has scored 14 goals for the Gunners this season, contributing 11 assists. Just 21 years old, he has already made 178 appearances for the club and has featured in all Arsenal's Premier League games over the past two campaigns. "I'm just really happy," said Saka. "There's been a lot of talking and it's been a while, but I'm here now. I think this is the right club, the right place to make the next step. It's a beautiful club - look where we are. "For me, it's about achieving my personal ambitions - how much I push myself and demand from myself each game, week in, week out. Then I have all the right people around me in terms of family, and when I come to the training ground, my team-mates, the coaching staff. "I think I have everything I need to become the best player I can be, and that's why I'm happy to stay here and be here for the future, because I really believe that we can achieve big things."

I meant I don't think some of the Man City fans were fans before the 2008 Abu Dhabi takeover.
May 24, 20232 yr Author Russell Martin has verbally agreed to become the new Southampton manager. Southampton are close to announcing the appointment of Swansea City head coach Russell Martin as their new boss. Saints have turned to Martin as they rebuild following Premier League relegation, with the 37-year-old set to replace the departing Ruben Selles. They have confirmed the Spaniard's contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of the season. Former Scotland defender Martin will be joined at Southampton by some members of his Swansea backroom team.
May 24, 20232 yr An interesting and risky move. He didn’t get Swansea promoted but I assume they want his style of football to be adopted!
May 24, 20232 yr Brighton's draw against Man C guarantees a club record sixth place and Europa League football next season. Chelsea finish in mid-table obscurity. Graham who?
May 24, 20232 yr Be interesting to see how their squad handles all the extra fixtures. Newcastle nearly got relegated the year after they were last in Europe (2012-13) ams West Ham's league form has nosedived this season too.
May 25, 20232 yr Brighton's draw against Man C guarantees a club record sixth place and Europa League football next season. Chelsea finish in mid-table obscurity. Graham who? Where did the successful mid-80s team peak in the league?
May 25, 20232 yr Author Where did the successful mid-80s team peak in the league? Their peak was 13th in the 1981-82 season for Brighton & Hove Albion.
May 25, 20232 yr Author Arne Slot says he wants to stay as Feyenoord manager - ruling himself out of contention for the Tottenham job. The 44-year-old Dutchman had been heavily linked with a move to Spurs after Antonio Conte's sacking in March. Slot, who led Feyenoord to the 2022-23 Eredivisie title, held talks with the Rotterdam-based club on Wednesday about a potential extension to his contract.
May 25, 20232 yr Their peak was 13th in the 1981-82 season for Brighton & Hove Albion. Thanks, Jimmy Case and a young Lawro were in the side I assume?
May 26, 20232 yr Author Brentford striker Ivan Toney was given a reduced ban from football because of a diagnosed gambling addiction. Toney, 27, was banned for eight months for breaking Football Association betting rules - including betting against his own team. A psychiatry expert who gave evidence to the FA's regulatory commission diagnosed Toney with a gambling addiction and concluded he needed help. As a result, the commission reduced an 11-month sanction by three months. In its written reasons explaining its sanction, published on Friday, the commission said Toney had admitted repeatedly lying during his initial interviews with the FA.
May 26, 20232 yr Here's a random fact: This season is on track to have the most goals in any 20 team Premier League. The record is 1,072 in 2018/19 and going into the final day we are on 1,051 so 22 goals on Sunday would break the record. Based on the goals-per-game average so far this season, we are predicted to finish on 1,079 goals, beating the record by 7.
May 27, 20232 yr Thinking about it that does make sense as there's been a seriously noticeable lack of clean sheets this season. Like our defence has been truly shocking for large parts of the season yet De Gea wins the golden glove with only 17 clean sheets!
