September 27, 20222 yr I would prefer Liverpool but I'm expecting Glasgow. Just did a recce on Booking.com for the two weekends it's most likely to be in May and there's basically nothing left in Glasgow already in the way of accommodation. Liverpool I could stay elsewhere and drive in as I know people in the area.
September 27, 20222 yr Still firmly backing Glasgow, I can drive by car from my parents on the other coast. As for accomo, central Scotland is so compact and well connected that it’s worth looking beyond GLA. Edinburgh is only 40 mins by rail. After leaving the carpark at the Hydro it takes me 75 mins to drive back to the other coast in rural fife. Honestly it can take longer to get across London than to get around the central belt Plus Scottish crowds are the best on earth Funny that the two hardest to understand accents for foreigners are the final two though.

I was thinking the same about the accents  I quite liked this year the constant chat with Sam in the Green Room, so Europe could hear a real Essex accent, after Lynda Woodruff conditioned viewers to it years ago. Would love if they used local presenters from Glasgow or Liverpool, but no doubt it will just be Graham Norton and someone else. Yeah tbh, whether it's Glasgow or Liverpool, I'm very much expecting not to be staying in the city itself, and commuting in from somewhere, which isn't the end of the world. I might take the car up anyway, and check out places within an hour's drive.
October 7, 20222 yr Apparently an Olly Murs gig has just been announced at the Liverpool arena on 6th May, while Glasgow's Hydro is clear in May! We'll find out later if that means anything significant or if Olly will just have to move his date. I will quite likely be in Munich from 21-25 May at an annual work event so I'm hoping the dates are earlier in the month than later. Edited October 7, 20222 yr by gooddelta
October 7, 20222 yr Depending on the dates for Eurovision, I'm not sure Olly's Glasgow date on 21st April is safe of a clash either really given the number of weeks needed for stage construction and rehearsals. They've probably put the Glasgow and Liverpool dates at the start and end of his tour on purpose in case they need to be flipped  Hoping for an early or mid May contest, feels like years since we've had one at the very end of the month? (From doing a Google, 27th May would be the latest the final has been since 1999)
October 7, 20222 yr Yes true, no doubt some Olly shuffling somewhere is inevitable. I'd most like to see 9th to 13th I think. 23rd to 27th would be a bit of a nightmare for me, as I'd have to fly back from Munich to Glasgow and miss the semis completely. Not that my schedule clashes will be keeping the organisers lying awake at night of course  If it's 16th to 20th then I'll need to fly from Glasgow to Munich I guess! October 7, 20222 yr Personally I'm really pleased, and the dates are 9/11/13 May. I love Liverpool and for me this means I can drive up there, and also it won't clash with my Germany trip later in the month.
October 7, 20222 yr This was a… choice. I’ll be saving my cash and avoiding the mad dash for hotels and tickets (try Chester and the Wirral btw, the meseryrail connects to them direct from central Liverpool). I personally do not have particularly great memories of time I’ve spent in Liverpool with dying family members so I’d rather not
