The UK rap scene is fully trolling BuzzJack with releases next week - we have an ArrDee song sampling Drake's 'One Dance' out on Thursday as was posted in the R&B/hip-hop forum already, and I've just stumbled across a snippet of a new Deno song dropping on Friday called 'Better Now', see if you can guess what the sample on that one is... (hint: it's not Post Malone sadly)

Ed Sheeran's 'Lego House' lmao

(slightly off topic but I don't know if there's anywhere more appropriate to post about this x)

Lol.

let’s hope everyone’s too busy listening to the new Calvin Harris then (presuming the song is a better effort than Potion)

you know things are getting desperate when you're already leeching off the biggest hit of 6 years ago (especially with his recent album being trounced by niche pop artiste Charlotte XCX) :teresa: no doubt this'll fly to the top of the UK charts then

Why can't all these acts just find a semblance of originality? It's so tiring.

Same for the commercial dance scene too atm.

I think the UK rap scene might have reached the point where like commercial dance it is running out of ideas :(

The us has always been ahead of the uk rap scene but they are just extending their lead on the uk. For example we had great tracks for the us this week e.g. Fivio Foreign's Paris to tokyo & Killermike and young thug's Run in this week alone.
I don’t think that new Arrdee song samples One Dance as such, more that it samples Crazy Cousinz/Kyla’s ‘Do You Mind’, which drake also sampled?

The same thing happened in the early 2010s really, I didn’t mind it though!

Yep there was a bit of UK rap sample using in the early 2010s - Sway - Still Speedin which sampled Ride On Time is a great tune (that was very dubstep infleunced too), Dot Rotten's Robert Miles-sampling dubsteppy Overload was also good and I really liked Tinchy Stryder's You're Not Alone actually, although it is a bit more cheesy!

I think the us rap scene will soon explode because...

But Can Eminem's Curtain Call Vol. 2 beat Kasabian & Calvin Harris to the albums no.1?

That is some ugly artwork.

I think you’re severely overestimating how well Eminem’s second GH will do tbh, it’ll do well but nothing’s going to “explode” I don’t think!

Lots of good climbs there! Good to see The 1975 up of course, it’s been very stable around #60 on Apple.

The big BMTH climb is quite interesting though seeing as it’s not on HHUK.
