'Light Years' again for me.

X - is a solid album that really frustrates me as with a little tweaking to the tracklist & singles, this could have been far more incredible. For instance scrap '2 Hearts' as the lead & have 'The One' which could have been a far bigger success. As for the tracklist, include some of the b-sides, bonus tracks & outtakes such as 'Magnetic Electric', 'Cherry Bomb', 'Lose Control', 'Do It Again', & 'Rippin' Up The Disco', put these in place of some of the albums weaker moments, then 'X' would be one of Kylie's very best lbums.

As it stands its an album of 2 halfs, 1 half is the electro-pop & dance pop sounds, then the other is a variety of other styles which are mostly filler & the album itself is far better when it sticks to the former sounds, with standout moments such as 'Like A Drug', 'In My Arms', 'Speakerphone', 'Wow' & 'The One'.

I agree with your points,X really could have such a brilliant album rather than just a good album and whats more annoying was the songs were there to make a great album but were left aside for much poorer songs.

I would have more songs such as like a drug on the X album and its that type of sound i also think that would have made a great follow up to Fever. X really suffered from having the wrong lead single where light years benefited hugely from having the right lead single.

The One was the big opportunity missed with X.

As lead single it would have propelled the album when released.

X was mismanaged in many ways but I think kylie herself picked songs that meant more to her at that time as the album was her first after cancer treatment so some songs probably represent kylies mindset in ways we may not know about, I know no more rain was a big kylie fave. With lead single I don't know if 2 hearts was kylies choice but the one I agree would have been the ideal lead single. I think kylie def knows the majority of fans prefer the one to 2 hearts.
Kylie indicated in an interview a few months later that she didn't want to release '2 Hearts' but the label forced her, and I assume that's the reason it hasn't even been performed since that tour.

That makes sense, I'm assuming she wanted the one as lead, with kylie just back on the scene after a very tough time it's a shame they didn't let her have her own way.

I think down through the years the right singles have been picked from most of the albums but X and Aphrodite are probably her two albums i feel the singles were most messed up.

X definitely, although if you swap 'Like A Drug' for '2 Hearts' I think you've got the right 4 singles in whichever order.

I feel like Aphrodite definitely had the right first two, but as an album wasn't exactly rich in choice for single choices.

I'm never sure if i would prefer like a drug or the one as lead single, as songs go i prefer like a drug but think it would be a better 2nd single following the one as lead.

I agree with a lot of this. It's a great album just as it is but it could have been much better. I think it suffers from having so many songs to chose from so naturally settling on a final tracking list was going to be difficult. For me, 'All I See' and 'Cosmic' are good songs but don't belong on the album, then there's 'Heart Beat Rock' and 'Nu-Di-Ty' which do suit the main sound of the album but I think are weaker moments, especially compared to a lot of the songs that didn't make it. It's hard to decide what my personal tracking list would be as there would still be songs I enjoy that I'd have to leave off.

Kylie recorded so many tracks for X which we have managed to access but my question is, do we know if its the album Kylie recorded the most songs for from all her studio albums?

Yeah definitely. There seemed to be a lot of songs for KM94 and Kiss Me Once too, but not anywhere near as much as X.
