Born in 1998, Alyssa Michelle Stephens was raised in Atlanta and began writing raps at age 10. At 16, the artist formerly known as Mulatto won The Rap Game, a music competition reality show hosted by legendary producer Jermaine Dupri, but ultimately turned down the prize (a deal with Dupri’s So So Def Records) to stay independent and self-release mixtapes while working the Georgia circuit. Her breakout single, 2019’s taunting “B*tch from Da Souf”, proved her growth from a fledgling teen artist and expertly showcased her trap influences and cleverly brash bars. It also landed her a record deal with RCA Records shortly after its release. The song catapulted Latto's career and positioned her alongside other female artists: Saweetie and rap icon Trina guest on “B*tch from Da Souf (Remix)”, and Latto made a cameo in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's provocative, empowering “WAP” video. On 2020's “Muwop” from her debut album, Queen of Da Souf, she flips Gucci Mane’s 2007 hit “Freaky Gurl”, borrowing his flow and proudly embracing her sexual prowess, much like her peers. “I think it’s only up from here,” she told Apple Music. “Every day, it’s a new female rapper going viral on the internet… Now [kids] got a lot [of women rappers] to choose from, and we all different.” Latto may be one of many, but she’s also one of a kind. - Apple Music Mariah Carey The morning after a rough performance at a 2016 New Year’s Eve show, Mariah Carey took to social media to offer her recap: “S**t happens.” What else could she say? What else did she need to say? Thirty-plus years in the business, more No. 1 singles than any solo artist in history (and second overall only to The Beatles), more writing and production credits on those singles than any other female composer—Carey is one of the few artists who might legitimately be beyond apology, a diva incarnate whose songs bridge the confessional intimacy of singer-songwriters with the mass appeal of pop. Yeah, she had some knocks along the way. Everyone does. But few take them in stride, let alone with such style. Born in Long Island in 1969 or 1970 (she once quipped that she doesn’t acknowledge time), Carey grew up on the classics: Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight. She moved to New York City after high school, cobbling together jobs while working on demos with then-collaborator Ben Margulies at the back of Margulies’ father’s cabinet factory. Her biggest tracks—from the early, dance- and gospel-influenced “Someday” and “Dreamlover” to the club leanings of “Fantasy” and “Honey” and ballads such as “Forever” and “Always Be My Baby”—stand like mile markers in the culture, capturing a feeling of sweetness and euphoria that straddles pop, hip-hop, and R&B without slotting neatly into any of them. Meanwhile, her melismatic style—a technique that entails singing a single syllable with a long run of notes—redefined our sense of what pop vocals sound like. Mimi, The Elusive Chanteuse, The Imperfect Angel...or maybe just Mariah. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Latto 2022 21 Big Energy (Latto & Mariah Carey feat. July 29, 20224 yr 34 | 23 | 9th week Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa and Young Thug Potion 1st single from Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 Released: 27th May 2022 Label: Sony Music Entertainment UK Chart Statistics NE (09/06/2022) | 16-20-19-24-26-26-24-23-34 Sales: 100k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 14 Sales 27 Audio Streaming 55 Video Streaming Video FFV6t4Dl_zQ Biography Calvin Harris Talk about an unexpected career trajectory. In 2007, 23-year-old Calvin Harris released I Created Disco, a cheeky shot across dance music’s bow that presented him as Scotland’s brow-arched answer to LCD Soundsystem. Fast-forward a few years, and the scruffy fellow playing house-party host in the “Merrymaking at My Place” video is suddenly baring oil-slicked abs on Calvin Klein billboards. What happened, of course, is that Harris (born Adam Richard Wiles in 1984) traded up from the Amiga computer of his teens, developed some of the best studio chops in the business with deep-house rollers like 2013's “Thinking About You,” and helped spark EDM’s pop crossover with hits for Rihanna, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding, and others. Along the way, he became one of the 2010s’ first DJ/producer/songwriter polymaths to earn top billing even on the songs in which he didn’t sing. No stranger to pyro-lit main stages—his percussive, synth-strafed 2014 single “C.U.B.A.” is big-room house at its most gargantuan—Harris has resisted getting boxed into any one sound. On 2017’s Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, he lays down a set of slinky R&B jams for Frank Ocean, Migos, and Young Thug, while the 2018 singles “Promises,” with Sam Smith, and “One Kiss,” with Dua Lipa, proved just how versatile his vision of pop can be. - Apple Music Dua Lipa There’s purpose in Dua Lipa’s euphoric pop. “For me, it’s about championing women and putting ourselves in the position of power,” the singer told Apple Music in 2020, ahead of the release of her second album, Future Nostalgia. “I have been inspired by the female alphas that have shown me that we can do it. And that we can wear the pants, you know? We need more of that in music.” Forcing the world to get a little more comfortable with female alphas has been a mission statement for Lipa (born in London to Kosovar Albanian parents in 1995) since her 2017 self-titled debut. It housed the triumphant breakup smash “New Rules”, the self-love anthem “IDGAF” and the assured “Hotter Than Hell”—songs which made it clear that this was no ingénue, but rather an outspoken, effortlessly cool face of pop’s future. Indeed, that status was cemented a year later when Lipa made history as the first female solo artist to receive five BRIT Award nominations. She won two and, in 2019, added two Grammys to her mantelpiece. Despite the success of her debut, Lipa wasn’t interested in recreating its hits. “People always say, ‘The second album is really scary,’ but for me, it’s more scary to go back into the studio and try to create something like ‘New Rules’ or ‘IDGAF’ over and over again,” she said. “I feel like I’d end up in a vicious cycle of trying to get somewhere but never being able to mature as an artist.” And so, to move forward, she pivoted to the past, drawing on disco and funk—and filtering it through her ahead-of-its-time pop—to arrive at Future Nostalgia. Decadent and every bit as empowering as those early hits, it brought Lipa her first Mercury Prize nod, multiple Grammy nominations and a rightful place in pop’s upper echelons. And with it, too, came Lipa’s new purpose. Released just as the world went into lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis, Future Nostalgia became an urgent tonic for tough times—danced to in living rooms across the world. Yet Lipa wasn’t done there: Five months later, she unveiled Club Future Nostalgia, a thrilling remixed version on which the singer teamed up with club queen The Blessed Madonna, and guests including Madonna, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani and Mark Ronson, to bring lockdown-fatigued listeners another dose of escapism. “I didn’t think I’d be putting albums out during a global pandemic,” added Lipa. “But it’s just about creating experiences for everyone at home. That’s the most important thing for me now.” All of this, of course, is only just the beginning. “I really feel like I’m finding my feet,” said Lipa. “I feel so proud of Future Nostalgia as a whole and the most confident and the most myself making it. But I’m already planning the next move.” - Apple Music Young Thug You don’t get a lot of warning for an artist like Young Thug. From his warped delivery to his radical, gender-fluid fashion sense, the Atlanta rapper (born Jeffery Lamar Williams in 1991) flies in the face of every unspoken rule for what hip-hop is, should, and could be. Starting with a prolific run of mixtapes in the early 2010s, Thug rose by pioneering a weird, ever-shifting flow somewhere between singing, rapping, mumbling and squawking—pushing rap forward by pulling it apart. But the weirdest thing about what he does is that it works: Nearly every project Thug’s released since 2015—from the reggae-inflected JEFFREY to the country-ish sides of Beautiful Thugger Girls—has cracked the mainstream, laying the groundwork for a new crop of fellow eccentrics like Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti. In other words, Thug hasn’t adjusted to convention but brought convention to him. Genuinely experimental, he frames his process in modest terms: “I’m in the studio so much, I’ll just try stuff,” he told The FADER in 2013. “I just think and try, think and try.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Calvin Harris 2007 10 Acceptable In The 80s -1- 2007 03 The Girls -2- 2007 43 Merrymaking At My Place -3- 2008 01 Dance Wiv Me (Dizzee Rascal feat. July 29, 20224 yr 33 | | 1st week Billie Eilish The 30th 1st / 2nd single from Guitar Songs Released: 21st July 2022 Label: Darkroom / Interscope Records Chart Statistics NE (04/08/2022) | 33 Sales: - Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio TBA Sales TBA Audio Streaming TBA Video Streaming Video onT3z0lCZz8 Biography When singer-songwriter Billie Eilish feels something new, the first thing she does is take out her phone and write it down. “You can write anything,” she told Apple Music in an interview for the Up Next series. “You can say the truth, and you can not tell anyone that it’s the truth—you can just write it, and it’ll be yours.” Raised and homeschooled in Los Angeles by actor/musician parents, Eilish (born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell in 2001) started writing songs when she was around 11, exploring a strain of melancholy, minimal and slightly surrealistic pop influenced as much by Lana Del Rey as the radical honesty of rappers like Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt. Writing and recording with her brother—and producer—Finneas O’Connell at their parents’ house, Eilish released dont smile at me in 2017, followed by an ever-evolving series of singles—a prime example of the fact that, in the streaming era, artists are now free to move directly from their bedrooms into the spotlight. Despite the attention, Eilish is doing her best to stake out a space of freedom and fluidity, expanding her range of collaborators (Vince Staples, Khalid) and dodging easy definition. “If people think I have a sound, if people are like, ‘Oh yeah, her sound is this,’ if someone asks you what my sound is and you have an answer for them—you’re wrong,” she told Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. “Instead of trying to find a sound, when I want to make something and when I have an idea of what I want to make, I’m just going to make that.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2018 47 lovely (Billie Eilish & Khalid) -3- MILLIONAIRE 2018 21 when the party's over -2*- MILLIONAIRE 2018 72 ocean eyes -1- MILLIONAIRE 2018 47 come out and play -NAS- 2019 78 idontwannabeyouanymore -AT- 2019 79 bellyache -2- 2019 06 bury a friend -3*- MILLIONAIRE 2019 13 wish you were gay -IG- 2019 02 bad guy -4*- MILLIONAIRE 2019 60 you should see me in a crown -1*- 2019 77 all the good girls go to hell -5*- 2019 03 everything i wanted -NAS- MILLIONAIRE 2020 01 No Time To Die -OST- 2020 07 my future -1- 2020 02 Therefore I Am -2- 2021 35 Lo Vas A Olvidar (Billie Eilish & ROSALÍA) -OST- 2021 05 Your Power -3- 2021 14 Lost Cause -4- 2021 23 NDA -5- 2021 04 Happier Than Ever -6- 2021 28 Getting Older -AT- 2021 32 Oxytocin -AT- 2022 33 The 30th -1/2- 1 x #1 | 6 x Top 5 | 8 x Top 10 | 10 x Top 20 | 15 x Top 40 | 22 x Top 100 Social Media Billie Eilish http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png Edited July 29, 20224 yr by Conorw

July 29, 20224 yr 32 | 35 | 3rd week Burna Boy featuring Ed Sheeran For My Hand 3rd single from Love, Damini Released: 8th July 2022 Label: Atlantic Recording Corporation Chart Statistics NE (21/07/2022) | 30-35-32 Sales: 20k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 17 Sales 58 Audio Streaming 17 Video Streaming Video EDZ25anwgjc Biography Nigerian singer Burna Boy opened his Apple Music Up Next spotlight with a distinction: “Music’s supposed to be a universal language. You understanding what I’m saying is second. The primary thing is, what does the person inside you hear?” It’s a simple but radical thought: You can listen on your terms, but he doesn’t have to meet you halfway. Born in 1991 and raised on the southern coast of Nigeria before moving to London for college, Burna (born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu) has become one of the most prominent African pop artists of the 21st century, fusing his specific background—a Nigerian man entering adulthood in the United Kingdom—with a global vision that encompasses Afrobeats, dancehall, trap, UK hip-hop and just about everything else that might fit under his diasporic umbrella. The result is an artist who isn’t confined by his identity but doesn’t dilute it either. By the time he received broader recognition through a (conspicuously uncredited) feature on Drake’s 2017 mix, More Life, he was already a star in Africa; 2019’s African Giant, which featured collaborators as disparate as Angélique Kidjo, Skrillex, Damian Marley and Future, brought him into international focus. Yeah, he’s just speaking to his people. But there are more of them all the time. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Burna Boy 2017 88 Good Time (J Hus feat. Burna Boy) 2019 06 Location (Dave feat. Formed in 1981 when a “dorky, disenfranchised” teenager in Orange County, California—Lars Ulrich, his words—placed a classified ad name-checking Iron Maiden and Diamond Head, the band debuted in 1983 with Kill ’Em All and pioneered the blinding synthesis of punk and British metal we now call thrash. Having moved to the Bay Area in the early ’80s to court bassist Cliff Burton, the band—Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett, guitarist-vocalist James Hetfield, and Burton—went on to fashion metal into a kind of art form, eschewing the glammy appeal of hair metal for ultra-serious, progressively complex song-suites that explored subjects like suicide, political corruption, and the psychological horror of war. (Burton was killed in a bus accident in late 1986 and replaced by Jason Newsted; the band regrouped for 1988’s epochal … And Justice for All.) Even as they became a global phenomenon in the wake of 1991’s record-breaking self-titled album, Metallica remained defiantly on their own path, dabbling in Southern rock (1996’s Load), high-concept dirges (2011’s divisive Lou Reed collaboration Lulu), stripped-down hardcore (2003’s St. Anger), and orchestral live albums (1999’s S&M). Their story is, in essence, the story of metal itself: a push-pull of simplicity and complexity that continually challenges our understanding of fast and loud. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 1987 27 The $5.98 E.P. - Garage Days Revisited -EP- 1988 20 Harvester Of Sorrow -1- 1989 13 One -2- 1991 05 Enter Sandman -1- 1991 15 The Unforgiven -2- 1992 06 Nothing Else Matters -3- 1992 25 Wherever I May Roam -4- 1993 20 Sad But True -5- 1996 05 Until It Sleeps -1- 1996 17 Hero Of The Day -2- 1996 19 Mama Said -3- 1997 13 The Memory Remains -1- 1998 15 The Unforgiven II -2- 1998 31 Fuel -3- 1999 29 Whiskey In The Jar -1- 2000 35 I Disappear -OST- 2003 09 St. Anger -1- 2003 16 Frantic -2- 2004 42 The Unnamed Feeling -3- 2008 19 The Day That Never Comes -1- 2008 51 My Apocalypse -2- 2008 48 Cyanide -3- 2008 79 The Judas Kiss -4- 2022 22 Master Of Puppets -1- 0 x #1 | 2 x Top 5 | 4 x Top 10 | 14 x Top 20 | 20 x Top 40 | 24 x Top 100 Social Media Metallica http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png Edited July 29, 20224 yr by Conorw
