July 29, 20224 yr Well that's the winner of this year's hatechart sewn up with several months still to go  Let’s just hope it doesn’t go a place higher, although if it did it would surely be a strong contender in the Worst Number One ever competition.
July 29, 20224 yr I must be the only one here who likes that Central Cee track :D butat the same I like LF System better so I'm glad they held on to number one position. Also happy for Ferrari and Big City Life climbing, we need more tech house and dnb in the chart
July 29, 20224 yr Kate Bush back to #1 on audio streaming chart, was she the real #1 this week? Alan Jones has made no mention of Kate being the real number 1 tonight.
July 29, 20224 yr Alan Jones has made no mention of Kate being the real number 1 tonight. Since Kate was on 24,437 (adjusted) while LF System is on 48,932, I would say there's no way she is really no.1. Since LF's downloads were 3,029 (and no.1 in real sales), their streams were 45,903. Kate is at 3 in real sales. So if she sold ~2,000, then her real streams would be ~44,874. The big question is, does the streaming chart and audio streaming reflect chart-equivalent streams or actual streams? If the former, then for Kate to be no.1 in streams, her real sales must be around (or less) 1,437 (giving real streams of 46,000 and total of around 47,437). If that is the case, then real sales made the difference this time..... Edited July 29, 20224 yr by braindeadpj
July 29, 20224 yr The Audio Streaming and Streaming charts reflect actual numbers of streams, with no weighting. It makes sense that LF System have a higher proportion of paid streams (enough to put them ahead in sales equivalent streams despite trailing in actual streams) as they've been doing better on Apple and Amazon which are almost entirely paid, whereas Kate has being doing better on Spotify which has a large free streaming contingent.

Thanks for confirming that 'jimwatts', that was my feeling too (about the lack of weighting), so I'm glad to have it confirmed. I seem to remember that around Xmas '19 (i think it was) they had Wham at no.1 on both the streaming charts with a streaming overall record (21 million wasn't it), while Mariah Carey was actually higher overall (after weighting), so i did think that was the case.. July 31, 20224 yr Listened to the chart show for the first time in a little while this week (a day late but still) - lovely to hear both of the new Billie songs, I actually like 'The 30th' more out of the two which I think is an unpopular opinion but they are both really good. Our other new entries of the week not so much :P the Rosa Linn song is slightly growing on me I guess but it peaking higher than 'Stefania' is lowkey offensive. I don't really like the original 'Big City Life' that much so a basic drum n bass rework isn't really doing it for me either, and then the less said about Central Cee the better (I say this as someone who has really liked a number of his previous hits). Was also my first time hearing 'Bad Habit' and 'For My Hand', quite liked both of those, I wasn't a super big fan of Steve Lacy's previous single but this one is an improvement and it's great to see him getting a real hit. 'Stay With Me' was new to me this week too and it's solid, I think I do actually like 'Potion' more though but this era in general remains overhated. (Oh and at long last heard that radio edit of 'go' that everyone has insisted is the best version... I guess it's a very marginal improvement?) 'Ferrari' is also growing on me, definitely miles better than James Hype's previous big hit so I wouldn't mind this one blowing up more. Well done to Jamie T finally having a long overdue #1 album to his name even if the singles this era haven't been connecting with me as well as his previous stuff. His interview was iconic too. Jamie T and Paolo Nutini both with #1 albums in the last few weeks after seemingly falling off the face of the planet for a good half a decade :cheeseblock:
