Hi guys! I thought it would be fun to make a full-scale update of Kylie's Spotify streaming figures. We had another one almost exactly 2 years ago by Dannyboy, so given another Kylie's era has come to an end, this should be a nice way to wrap it up. I'm going to post the whole update in the Spotify thread while I'm finished here. And I used Dannyboy's figures to compare the progress to 2 years ago.

rules

The tracks counts are combined with the remixes, live versions etc. If there are two track titles in the live version of some song, I don't combined it with anything and leave it as it is. I generally didn't combine overtures, intros etc. especially if there's another version of the same song in the live album. I also gave 'Can't Get the Blue Monday out of my Head' its own life, given it's more of a mash-up rather than a remix with its own title. Tried to include most of the known features to the list too, hopefully didn't forget anything important.

While most of us pretty much know what's gonna be in the lead, but still it should be interesting to see the progress outside the top-2!

So let's see where the DISCO tracks landed, what gained the most, and what on the contrary stalled!

Btw Kylie is on 1.8 billion streams of her catalogue, and she has gained 800 million streams in the past two years! Not too bad, eh?

(if it is not fine with the mods, feel free to merge / close the thread)

Starting with the tracks which fell just outside of the top-100, but nevertheless had more than 2,000,000 streams per each. Yes, that also means that the whole top-100 crossed that threshold!

Place 2022 Place 2020 Song Album Plays Aug 2022 Gain

106 112 | Wouldn't Change a Thing | Enjoy Yourself | 1 936 198 | 105%

105 80 | Speakerphone | X | 2 011 200 | 30%

104 97 | Shocked | Rhythm of Love | 2 052 691 | 71%

103 74 | Everything Is Beautiful | Aphrodite | 2 075 644 | 22%

102 73 | Illusion | Aphrodite | 2 148 956 | 22%

101 71 | Kiss Me Once | Kiss Me Once | 2 156 601 | 13%

Also including 'Wouldn't Change a Thing', which was one of the only few songs of Kylie's catalogue that gained more than double in the last two years! Plus we have 4 album tracks falling out of the top-100 and a single 'Shocked' from Rhythm of Love, which also fell but not as harshly.

I’m surprised both shocked and wouldn’t change a thing weren’t in the T100 tbh.

My exact thoughts as both are great.

Wouldn’t Change A Thing  Criminally underrated classic

Ya it's a song that's often overlooked or forgotten and it's such a great song.

... I guess it's the streaming era for us, but I'm pretty sure both of these classics will manage to hang around the top-100, given how much did they gain in the past 2 years!

And here is what managed to make the cut instead:

100-91

100 72 | I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter | Kylie Christmas | 2 199 517 | 24%

99 79 | Some Kind of Bliss | Impossible Princess | 2 298 268 | 47%

98 N | Spotlight | DISCO | 2 324 858 | N

97 81 | More More More | Fever | 2 377 615 | 54%

96 70 | Cupid Boy | Aphrodite | 2 411 687 | 24%

95 67 | Closer | Aphrodite | 2 441 069 | 21%

94 68 | Let It Snow | Kylie Christmas | 2 522 311 | 26%

93 N | Hey Lonely | DISCO | 2 529 090 | N

92 65 | Shelby '68 | Golden | 2 541 088 | 15%

91 78 | Please Stay | Light Years | 2 578 972 | 63%

Here we have two more singles, including the first single from one of her least successful albums - 'Impossible Princess'. But for a flop single 'Some Kind of Bliss' manages to have some legs in the streaming era and got a healthy gain in plays. That's not the end for 'Impossible Princess' anyway and only the beginning for 'DISCO', which first two tracks appear at #93 and #98. Given they're the last two tracks from the original Deluxe edition of the album, you might have to get the idea of how many more are going to come.

Same with 'Kylie Christmas', many more to appear about the most wonderful time of the year. Two 'Aphrodite' album tracks landing here too, with 'Cupid Boy' closing in on 'Closer' to my surprise, as I very much prefer the latter.

90-81

90 75 | Breathe | Impossible Princess | 2 593 868 | 52%

89 64 | Les Sex | Kiss Me Once | 2 632 881 | 12%

88 137 | Oh Santa | Kylie Christmas | 2 654 876 | 528% 3rd Biggest Streams Gainer, Chart Climber

87 82 | Got to Be Certain | Kylie | 2 732 798 | 81%

86 63 | Sincerely Yours | Golden | 2 733 932 | 16%

85 NE | Till You Love Somebody | DISCO | 2 770 297 | N

84 61 | Million Miles | Kiss Me Once | 2 783 703 | 9%

83 NE | Fine Wine | DISCO | 2 788 378 | N

82 85 | Celebration | Greatest Hits 1992 | 2 817 969 | 88% Chart Climber

81 62 | White December | Kylie Christmas | 2 879 427 | 19%

The figures are very close in this part!

Here we scroll back to the time of her debut album 'Kylie' and her first of many #2 singles, it's 'Got to Be Certain'. Those were the days when Kylie rose to the heights and kick-started her enormous career, but the streaming era kinda doesn't reflect it that much. Nevertheless it still had a healthy gain, as well as 'Celebration', which is one of the very few occasions of actually climbing in the overall chart.

Here we have two more of the deluxe edition of 'DISCO' tracks, as well as two more 'Kylie Christmas' tracks, with 'Oh Santa's play count rising by six times (!). Guessing it got some very nice playlisting in the past two years. Two more 'Kiss Me Once' tracks are here as well, with their streams stalling and making the way for the other tracks. Not much better fairs 'Sincerely Yours' from 'Golden', which also slides at a pretty fast speed.

Last, but not least, it's 'Breathe', another Impossible Princess single. In fact, it is the first Kylie song I have heard in my life, bought by my mom for me as a part of a pirate Russian compilation, I was very intrigued, as the song stood out from the rest I was hearing at the time. And it is still one of my favourites and her career highlights.

From here on, the streaming gainers are measured in percentages, not in actual streams.

Two more packs for today

80-71

80 66 | Like a Drug | X | 3 034 974 | 42%

79 NE | Unstoppable | DISCO | 3 069 026 | N

78 60 | Better Than Today | Aphrodite | 3 121 452 | 18%

77 69 | What Do I Have to Do? | Rhythm of Love | 3 357 260 | 69%

76 58 | Sexy Love | Kiss Me Once | 3 383 581 | 19%

75 98 | Tears On My Pillow | Enjoy Yourself | 3 406 650 | 185% 5th Biggest Streams Gainer, Chart Climber

74 NE | Celebrate You | DISCO | 3 444 239 | N

73 56 | Aphrodite | Aphrodite | 3 617 430 | 25%

72 53 | Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love) | Aphrodite | 3 798 328 | 16%

71 59 | Put Yourself in My Place | Kylie Minogue | 3 953 718 | 39%

To be honest, 'Put Yourself in My Place' has always been felt bigger by me than the official chart peak, streams and youtube video counts suggested. It has less than 200k youtube plays, which seems quite ridiculous. Meanwhile 'Tears on my Pillow' made a giant leap up, and, as you can see, is now higher than some of her more successful at a time singles.

A 3-pack of 'Aprhodite' songs are here as well, with the title track, which is also the only non-single of the three, actually gaining the most out of them. Speaking of album tracks, 'Like a Drug' gained very well here and 'Sexy Love' faired a bit better than most of other 'Kiss Me Once' songs. And furthermore have two more 'DISCO' songs for the third time in a row, which really do love to come in pairs.

70-61

70 55 | Did It Again | Impossible Princess | 3 969 056 | 36%

69 52 | New York City | Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection | 4 340 762 | 32%

68 50 | Raining Glitter | Golden | 4 349 468 | 14%

67 NE | Marry The Night | BORN THIS WAY THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY | 4 379 140 | N

66 NE | Kiss of Life | DISCO | 4 510 513 | N

65 46 | A Lifetime to Repair | Golden | 4 523 503 | 12%

64 44 | Sexercize | Kiss Me Once | 4 728 009 | 15%

63 54 | Fever | Fever | 4 823 975 | 56%

62 45 | Golden | Golden | 4 924 946 | 21%

61 NE | Last Chance | DISCO | 4 963 170 | N

And yet again, two more 'DISCO' appearances, including 'Kiss of Life' from the re-release featuring Jessie Ware and being accompanied by such an amazing music video. We have another new entry here, it's the 'Marry the Night' cover of Gaga released for Gaga's 'Born This Way' 10 years anniversary's celebration.

We have two title tracks from albums - 'Fever' and 'Golden' - back-to-back at 62 and 63, with two more songs from 'Golden'. Unfortunately, 'Lifetime to Repair' is stalling and not going anywhere and it seems like it won't overtake 'Sexercize', which fell 20 spots but gained better.

'Did It Again' is the highest 'Impossible Princess' track and it has almost crossed 4 million Spotify plays. 'New York City' is also still here, with a nice gain way above 4 million plays as well.

Since all her PWL catalogue was added late 2016 more and more of them are popping up on Spotify compilations etc and I’ve noticed it’s been much higher streams the last year.

Oh Santa had a good 2020 and excellent 2021…was barely streamed before that.

Some surprising positions - what do I have to do @ only 77 but Sexercize is above it @ 64. Put yourself in my place @ only 71.

I dunno, I have 'Put Yourself in My Place' on 181k, as per the video above and I can't find the other one. Maybe it's something about the location (I'm in Mexico right now).

And thanks aeroco for clearing up about the older catalogue! I'm going to post some extra stats about the recent climbs within the last two years too.

'Kylie Christmas' songs are all over the place: some stall and barely move anywhere, and the others have enormous leaps, like 'Oh Santa'. The power of playlisting! But it's really interesting that the labels (I guess it's Parlo still?) successfully push for the Kylie Christmas tracks and that album has become such a big driver of Kylie's streaming even without 'Santa Baby' being included in the pot.

And yeah, it sometimes even is annoying to watch a random album track being above some classic in streaming, and we're gonna have much more of that.

It's annoying that the worst tracks on 'Kylie Christmas' seem to be gaining traction on Spotify. 'Oh Santa' is my least favourite of the original tracks and I know the likes of 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' and 'Winter Wonderland' have appeared on some Christmas playlists.

I'm just pleased when ANY of her tracks pick up noticeable streams because most of her songs don't. Ever. No matter how good.

Ya I'm kinda the same. Any streaming she gets is a bonus as generally streaming no way reflects how successful she has been so any streams are a bonus but I would prefer to see her non Christmas songs gaining instead.
