Congrats to PSG, Bayern and Real Madrid for their league titles for 22/23. Serie A however seems like a legitimately open season this year!

Booked my ticket today to go to see Mönchengladbach vs Mainz in a fortnight’s Time. Looking forward to returning to Borussia-Park! Quite a bare bones simple stadium but the atmosphere is so good!! Plus you can drink in view of the pitch and I’m hype to get another couple of the Gladbach pint glasses. I have more from Hertha and we can’t have that!! 🥹

Thanks!!

Frustrating game in the end with some Questionable decision making by Gladbach and the ref. Red Card was fair but so f***ing stupid to give away.

Bundesliga Games have such a good atmosphere. I really enjoy coming to them. Shame I live on the other side of the country otherwise I’d buy a season ticket for sure. Also did the stadium tour on Saturday! That was fun. The stadium is quite simple (only cost 68.1m€ in 2004 to build!!!) but it’s really well laid out and really just has such a charm to it. One thing I learned is that under the DFB rules all the Bundesliga and 2. Bubdesliga Clubs Are required to have prison facilities in their stadium. Gladbach has three cells with capacity for 24 people. That was quite a shock to me!!

Just over 100 days after winning the DFB Pokal, the Coach of RasenBallsport Leipzig is out on his arse
Thanks!!

I've been to a few Hertha games in the Olympiastadion in Berlin and the atmosphere is indeed great. It extends to before the match when rival fans can drink together quite happily in the city centre with no visible police presence.

Union Berlin went top of the German Bundesliga for the first in their history by edging past Cologne.

Spain midfielder Gavi has signed a new contract with Barcelona until 2026, with a 1bn euros (£865m) release clause.

The 18-year-old has played for Barcelona since 2015 and was under contract until 2023.

He made his first-team debut in August 2021, aged 17 years and 24 days, becoming the fourth-youngest player in the club's history.

Gavi has started in all Barcelona's La Liga matches this season.

Sounds like they see him as a key part of the club's future! I've not heard too much about him, but looking at how many times he's played for the club at his age it seems like they're very much valuing him.
After getting just one point from their first six matches Monza finally got their first Serie A win of the season by beating Juventus 1-0.

FC Union Berlin spend their second week at the summit of the Bundesliga!!! Absolutely huge for the wee team from East Berlin

Their Social media admin, the English language one, is excellent. They tweet like that drunk girl you meet in the club toilets at 3am who becomes your instant best friend and hype woman and declares absolute platonic love for you after 15 seconds. it is glorious

One thing that always shocks me about the other five big 5 leagues is just how many red cards seem to be given. In an entire season of the Prem you almost never see a player pick up more than red card but in the other leagues it's really commonplace. In Ligue 1 for example there are 5 players who have already received 2 red cards (and subsequent bans) and there's only been 12 games! How the hell do these players get back in the team?

Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso has left the La Liga club after just seven months in charge at the Mestalla.

Former AC Milan and Napoli boss Gattuso, 45, signed a two-year deal when he was unveiled last summer.

But Valencia have lost eight of his 18 league matches in charge and sit 14th, just a point above the bottom three, after Sunday's loss at Real Valladolid.

Valencia said former Italy midfielder Gattuso's departure had been "decided by mutual agreement".

Barcelona bounced back from back-to-back defeats to beat Real Madrid 1-0 in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.

An Eder Militao own goal separated the sides at the Bernabeu despite the hosts having more possession and chances.
