Still quite late in the month as the new coach won’t see his player until mid July. Might make the rumours of Enrique true but more likely Iraola albeit the latter doesn’t have his family living In England.

Who would you want as the new manager?

  • He certainly does deserve a lot of credit but to see him lift the trophy in a parade would be very John Terry Champions League final 2012 🤣

  • Don't think they would win it myself! Way too many new players to have to hit the ground running all at once.

That's very a Chelsea under Abramovich-esque decision! He was a victim of his own success given his first season, anything less than another title would suddenly be considered a failure. Thought FSG would stick by him too.

Could be a good decision but not sure Iraola is the answer.

It's not even really that. Obviously there were some unique circumstances in the summer, but Slot just got found out tactically against a whole host of managers and couldn't get enough out of the players. None of our players are bad, but Slot couldn't find the balance and obviously when he did he made some poor decisions man management style too. He somehow made us even worse after we got knocked out of the Champions League too.

Probably Iraola at this point or Luis Enrique

Honestly don't know what took them so long to do it.

And i'm even more shocked they didn't act quicker to go for Alonso before he went to Chelsea.

Feel like it's a massive step for Iraola if that's the path they are taking...

I'm not sure the higher ups were ever that into Alonso. Plus, if you get Alonson you also lose a massive piece of power internally. I'd have definitely taken him, but I also think this move is a pivot back to a different style of football. Alonso is even more possession based, whereas we need a manager who plays a more aggressice style of tooball, rotates and trusts youth. Which is somerhing Slot lacked. I also think that we weren;t necessarily going to sack Slot or there was some internal disagreement. I think Iraola will get the job, but it also wouldn't surprise me if they acted as they thought Luis Enrique was gettable.

Liverpool have appointed Andoni Iraola as their head coach on a two-year contract following the sacking of Arne Slot.

The Reds announced Slot's exit on Saturday, a year after the Dutchman guided them to the Premier League title.

Former Bournemouth manager Iraola, 43, joins after delivering the Cherries' finest top-flight season to date, finishing in sixth place.

Excited to get going now! Not expecting us to be challenging for the title this season, but I'd like a good cup run and signs of progress and most importantly, enjoying the football games again. Feel like we have a lot of business to do in the summer and we've got 3 players coming off the back of massive injuries, with at least two of them being first team starters for us. Have to temper expectations, but think Iraola was the best choice.
