October 31, 20222 yr Author NO 54- 92 POINTS One For Sorrow Steps (Voters: JulianT- 14pts, Gooddelta- 26pts, Gezza- 25pts, Leonardo- 27pts) #2 for 1 week in September 1998 behind “If You Tolerate This, Your Children Will Be Next” by Manic Street Preachers) Only 4 voters but those that like it REALLY like it. It’s our favourite Steps 90s #2. LunVA9FJVUk
October 31, 20222 yr Author NO 53- 94 POINTS Dirty Cash Adventures Of Stevie V (Voters: Fiesta- 4pts, Mark223- 1pt, Colm- 11pts, Gezza- 5pts, Mack- 14pts, Leonardo- 15pts, Popchartfreak- 18pts, Dircadirca- 26pts) (#2 for 1 week in May 1990 behind “Killer” by Adamski) One of the more infectious songs of 1990 and proved inspirational for Dizzee Rascal 19 years later. 3iL5jzjOQMo
October 31, 20222 yr 'Ghetto Superstar' is a tune but again not enough to include in votes. 'One For Sorrow' is one of Steps better efforts too.
October 31, 20222 yr Aww, I'm coming for last in the posters chart update after the last two days! One For Sorrow is a pop masterpiece (heavily influenced by The Winner Takes It All, which you can basically sing over the top of it). If Last Thing On My Mind proved they were more than a one-hit wonder then One For Sorrow proved they were here to stay. It had very high sales for a No.2 but I can't say I begrudge Manics their No.1, If You Tolerate This... is brilliant. Ghetto Supastar wasn't too far away from my vote, so infectious. The song was never off the radio in 1998/1999.
October 31, 20222 yr That Pras song is awful, I thought it was a joke the first time I heard it, can't believe it was actually a big hit that people actually defend. Genuinely I'd sooner take the Comic Relief version :') 'Dirty Cash' was close to my points (I do prefer the Dizzee Rascal version ngl) and 'One For Sorrow' is one of the better Steps songs! (Though the Manics song >>>)
October 31, 20222 yr Unlucky for Steps to miss out in the chart to the Manics with what surely must be one of the greatest no1s of all time in terms of quality and lyrics!
October 31, 20222 yr First of my top 5 hit! I agree with ‘One For Sorrow’ being one of the best examples of pure 90s pop that’s on offer, also ‘Dirty Cash” is a tune. I’m indifferent to ‘Ghetto Superstar’.
October 31, 20222 yr Unlucky for Steps to miss out in the chart to the Manics with what surely must be one of the greatest no1s of all time in terms of quality and lyrics! With Boyzone falling from 1 to 3 that week, I believe that it was the first time outside of December that the top 3 all cleared 100,000 sales.
October 31, 20222 yr Week ending 1st Sept 1984 top 3 cleared 100k, George Michael, Stevie Wonder & Black Lace.
October 31, 20222 yr With Boyzone falling from 1 to 3 that week, I believe that it was the first time outside of December that the top 3 all cleared 100,000 sales. I think only the week before, Boyzone, Stardust and The Corrs had all cleared 100k
October 31, 20222 yr Author I think only the week before, Boyzone, Stardust and The Corrs had all cleared 100k Indeed so- it happened on multiple occasions- W/E 31/10/98 is another example, and a fair few times in late 97, Nov 95. Mar 99.........
