September 2, 20223 yr Just seen the retros, that sale for Atomic Kitten 20 years ago is mad, way outperforming the poor market at the time. I didn't realise it had sold over four times what the No.2 sold that week. They really were a commercial force for a while after Whole Again. Nice to see Arctic Monkeys and Ghost make the top 40, quite rare to have rock and indie stuff in here, even if Arctics is less rock and has more of a Scott Walker vibe to me.
September 2, 20223 yr Surely TikTok's proven that pretty much anything can go viral on there by now? I don't think there's a specific TikTok sound so this isn't at all surprising to me. I definitley think it's a positive that TikTok allows songs with different sounds or genres to go viral and have some great success. I do have a gripe about how little follow up success there seems to be for a lot of these artists as if nobody at all bothers to seek out new music that might be similar to something they liked because it's not the song linked to whatever trend.

I'm annoyed that this iteration was some people's first impression :lol: (although I think slowed down clips are probably why it took off on TikTok, but the regular version is so much better!)
