There's also another week in 1991 where Roxette 'Spending My Time' and Salt'n'Pepa's 'You Showed Me' were both tied at #22.

Ah really interesting! That's nice that there's some transparency to it, never seen a music chart actually acknowledge ties.

I hope Sam snatches it tomorrow as it might be their only chance of getting #1 as I can see Ed getting #1 next week just because it’s Ed

IIRC, they changed the rule because of the low-key furore over the Groove Is In The Heart tying with The Joker on panel sales thing. And then Millward Brown got rid of it again in 1994.

OK, that explains why there's so many ties in the 1991-1993 charts on the OCC website!

As I understood there are 123 units between the 2, when I'm Blue still in the lead for today.

If that's true, it's going to be super super close on Friday! Really can't call it.

I'm not convinced Ed will debut at #1 but the song does sound commercial enough to enter quite high - I guess it just depends on how much of a push it's going to get.

There are already signed CD's on his site, so... as always. AS HARD AS HE CAN

I would quite like Sam & Kim to get #1, just to continue a period with some variety at the top
If that's true then I'm pretty confident Sam will get it now, they're closing the gap at a slightly faster rate than they did between Monday and Wednesday!

I know it's Ed, but I can't see a soundtrack single of this type with no real hype behind it making a monumental splash. Feel free to quote me in the week if I'm wrong.

Where are you finding the signed CDs? Can’t see anything on his site

Sam/Kim should do it, I'm positive they will make it,

and if not, sue the OCC and ask for the real non-estimated data! :D :D :D

Banquet Records released a code for £10 off the Sports Team vinyl today and said they have 400+ orders to get out for it so that could give them a last minute boost.

Plus on HMV too - sold out on both stores now though.

Agreed. I can maybe see it doing Top 10 at most (then dropping down into the teens/20s the next week). Would like to be wrong though as I think the track is pretty good.

I don’t see any reason why it can’t debut at the top tbh.

Especially if he’s got lots of signed CD’s on the go, plus it’s a really good song

The song being well received so far makes me less confident that it'll be #1 tbh  (feels like the best received songs from his last couple of albums ended up being the ones that missed #1).
