January 16, 20232 yr I will not be having this Don't Tell Me slander @Bré!!! :o It is one of Madonna's best singles and has one of the most unusual structures out of her bigger hits too... the string outro is gorgeous
January 17, 20232 yr I'm with Bre on this one. The stop/start intro is grating and the rest of the song is average at best nothingness. :kink:
January 17, 20232 yr poor Don't Tell Me, think it's a grower. It's not a masterpiece but I wouldn't call it nothingness either.
January 17, 20232 yr It’s okay Dot, no worries. You and Bré are both entitled to have wrong opinions :kink:
January 19, 20232 yr In case you didn't see it in the retro forum, there will be a listening session for Moon Safari by Air at 8.30 this evening.
January 20, 20232 yr RIP David Crosby songs# The Byrds - Mr Tambourine Man Crosby, Stills & Nash - Marrakesh Express
January 20, 20232 yr Can we have Eight Miles High please as he actually co-wrote that one ;) Happy to hear that one instead.
January 21, 20232 yr Author Who locked my thread  (unlocked x) David Crosby is once again someone who I am aware of but don't really know any of his music - I was going to ask if anyone has a favourite Crosby, Stills & Nash (& Young) song, did not even know he was a member of another band as well oop. I do know The Byrds' version of 'Mr. Tambourine Man' but that was of course a #1 so we've had it already. Touch wood we end up only having the one RIP slot this week. (I could play a Yellow Magic Orchestra song too but that's heavily stretching the relevance to the UK charts forum)
January 21, 20232 yr I’d certainly be up for hearing Behind the Mask, probably my favourite of theirs
January 21, 20232 yr Author Actually Yellow Magic Orchestra did have one UK hit single, today I learned! (I kind of just assumed they wouldn't have had one as it's pretty rare for Japanese artists to chart here)
January 21, 20232 yr Actually Yellow Magic Orchestra did have one UK hit single, today I learned! (I kind of just assumed they wouldn't have had one as it's pretty rare for Japanese artists to chart here) Yoko Ono says hello :P
January 21, 20232 yr B.G. The Prince of Rap passed away today as well (RIP) if we wanted to continue the Club Bizarre theme x (idk if he ever had any UK hits but The Colour of My Dreams is great)
January 22, 20232 yr Author He had one song that charted at #71 - I suppose we don't strictly need to limit the RIP slots to people who were UK chart stars anyway though x I've got the list prepared slightly less last minute this time so we should actually start on time this week, hooray! 46 albums covered this week - the most we've had since also having 46 in week 5, and the joint 2nd most, still miles behind the outlier of week 1 covering 61 albums - bringing us up to June 2003. Expect a few heavy songs here and there, and a few more classics that charted surprisingly low. We'll also be crossing the 666th #1 album, will it go to someone appropriately demonic? #2 albums this week: 2001 The Very Best of Prince - Prince Is This It - The Strokes Wonderland - The Charlatans Songs from the West Coast - Elton John Love Is Here - Starsailor Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd - Pink Floyd Greatest Hits Volume 2 - Madonna Dreams Can Come True: Greatest Hits Vol 1 - Gabrielle 2002 Read My Lips - Sophie Ellis-Bextor Harry’s Bar - Gordon Haskell Legacy: The Greatest Hits Collection - Boyz II Men Under Rug Swept - Alanis Morissette Laundry Service - Shakira Spin - Darren Hayes C’mon C’mon - Sheryl Crow The Platinum Collection - Queen Nellyville - Nelly Angels with Dirty Faces - Sugababes Bounce - Bon Jovi Forty Licks - The Rolling Stones What My Heart Wants to Say - Gareth Gates The Best of 1990-2000 & B-Sides - U2 2003 Missundaztood - Pink Gotta Get Thru This - Daniel Bedingfield Busted - Busted Stripped - Christina Aguilera Get Rich or Die Tryin’ - 50 Cent Greatest Hits - Tom Jones Home - Simply Red Sound of the Underground - Girls Aloud I don't normally bother to suggest bonuses but as I've got these done a bit sooner than the last few weeks giving me time to look over the list I will suggest these 2, they're both classics but not sure how likely they are to be nominated (one probably more likely than the other for demographic reasons one suspects): The Strokes - Last Nite 50 Cent - In Da Club
January 22, 20232 yr not the best list of 2s but I'd say: Shakira - Underneath your clothes (from Laundry Service) Sophie Ellis Bextor - Get over you (from Read my lips) Sugababes - Stronger (Angels) Edited January 22, 20232 yr by Bjork
January 22, 20232 yr Author Well this didn't happen due to BuzzJack being down all day lol. Next week it is, you guys just have a lot of time to mull over the bonuses :kink: (I was considering trying to contact the regulars offsite and still go ahead with it as planned but I don't think I have a way to contact a couple of people, and didn't want anyone to miss out)
January 22, 20232 yr I would have missed out anyway due to driving home from France, what a day for Buzzjack to be down
