And that’s after 48 hours so I’m sure it was even higher but that’s fine all I wanted to see is her above UNHOLY, I need her to be number 1 this week so bad.

^well Drake opened with similar figures 1 year ago wth Girls Want Girls and still lost

so it all depends how the sogns hold up

Girls Want Girls dropped quite sharply in streams as the week went on but still finished on 65k, while Unholy did just under 60k last week and that appears to be the peak of its sales. So I think Taylor is quite safe for a second #1 single this week.

Me too, but I wouldn't say there is "absolutely zero possibilities" of Taylor losing

Anti-Hero is also only showing at #28 on Amazon... not sure if error or not...

It's there since day 1, and that after we know she broke the all time record for the first day of any album there, so it can't be only 28 I'm sure.

I thought she had a pretty good chance at getting another #1 single before it was released given the generally low bar for #1 sales in recent weeks anyway but after the over 1m debut its locked in. How well she holds up throughout the week could depend on whether she gets a second week though with a new Drake album coming.
How so? 30 isn't a particularly streaming-friendly album. With only 12 tracks, 1 being 5 minutes long and 5 being 6 minutes+ long. What killed the era was the Vegas residency scandal. She went to the BRITs after that happened and performed "I Drink Wine" (instead of the actual single being promoted at the time "Oh My God"), then the era has been dead since (for ~8 months). Otherwise I assume there would've been a single pushed in late spring/early summer (likely "Can I Get It"), with a 4th being promoted aroudn now (likely "I Drink Wine").

At least the era seems like it'll pick up a little with "I Drink Wine" video release/push as a single likely, Grammy nominations coming out mid-November as well as her residency finally starting.

I think in this day and age you can't really release an album off the back of one song, she should have had at least one more single and a promo single before the album. But they did kind of give up on the era after 'Easy On Me', by the time it came to pushing the second single post-album it felt like a tumbleweed.

I do think her career will nosedive from this point onwards after how badly she handled the whole Vegas cancellation thing, though.

Spotify hasn’t updated today, even yesterday it was already updating 🙄

Worked nicely for Harry Styles this year though!

Exactly, it does not work for someone like Camilla Cabello on the back of 1 hit

but it works for people like Adele or Harry Styles cos Spotify added 3 tracks to HH and all very high, so in a way it was like if the album had 3 hits

so sure releasing 3 singles prior to album and those becoming hits is a good strategy

but you don't need it if Spotify is gonna have your hit + 2 album tracks promoted as if they were hit singles

and that worked perfect for Adele for nearly 6 months and thats what kept the album up there, same for Harry

I think 30 just wasn’t a very strong album, I don’t think much could have saved it. Plenty of people listened and not a lot of it stuck. I think Hold On would’ve been a good single choice, but the era was dead in the water by the time 2022 rolled around anyway.

Spotify has finally updated - Taylor still holds the top 5 and 13 of the top 15 (Sam #6, Guetta #14). Most of her tracks are in the same order but 'Karma' has overtaken 'Vigilante Shit' and 'Question...?' 790k, 565k and 543k for her top 3, Sam on 491k. The 3am tracks have mostly had small drops but 'Would've, Could've, Should've' is up 2 to #28.

Arctic Monkeys having pretty big drops but they still just about have 3 songs in the top 40 at #37, #38 and #39 ('Body Paint', 'There'd Better Be A Mirrorball' and 'I Ain't Quite Where I Think I Am' respectively, 'Sculptures Of Anything Goes' is down to #42). The whole of their album is still top 100 with 'Mr Schwartz' the lowest at #93. '505' is already back to being their 5th highest song, will probably be their highest again very soon

Meghan Trainor has a pretty big rise on day 2 to #81, looks like this might actually be a decent hit for her!

Meghan at #81 !!

I’m guessing she might have a chance of debuting top 40 possibly, I wonder if HHUK will add it to their playlist!

Massive ouch at Joel / Tom though, I really see this struggling due to the timing of the release and it being so close to Christmas and they will start to dominate Spotify as of next month

yeah Would've Could,ve Should've is going semi-viral on tiktok due to the lyrics about 'giving back her girlhood', if it holds up it could do sililarly to harry's matilda!!

And yeah Megan was helped a lot with the snippet going viral, i hope it becomes a hit for her

From some quick calculations with ACR rules applied to that Spotify update, I think Meghan would have climbed 57-34 and the Arctics songs would now be #18, #20 & #21, with Southstar at #19.

Early Spotify update today after such a late one yesterday, some nice climbs for the Taylor 3am tracks

In fact, they’ve all reached a new peak today
