Wow - 306k in a single week is insane. I knew CGYOOMH was a mammoth but that’s ridiculous.

Indeed! The only other songs in the 00s to achieve this were reality winner singles, charity releases or Christmas #1s. Even in the late 90s, there were very few 'normal' songs that managed it ('Baby One More Time' and some Spice Girls releases of the top of my head).

Oh, these sales of 37-38K for ‘Higher’ and ‘Please Stay’ are very big for their respective positions!

Dare we think she could get into the Year End Top 100 selling songs in 2023 with Padam Padam?

I loved the TV version - seemed so much more impactful because they've shown footage at the start of the fans going nuts as they realise the surprise star is Kylie. Any idea how the broadcast did - viewing figures, etc.?

I hope Kylie doesnt do a duet with Madonna. I cringed when I heard that in the interview. I feel like people are seeing Kylie as cool now where as Madonna not so much.

EDIT to add: I'm a big Madonna fan and huge respect to everything she's achieved in life and all the doors she's opened for others. But she's a trainwreck at the mo.

The way it goes I can definitely say it’s a big possibility and with PP easily being not only gold, but platinum within a year or so! I mean it will have reached ≈100k after 5 weeks with streaming still gaining week-on-week! To get to gold by the end of the year she will only need to sell averagely 11k per week, which is very achievable at this point.

I agree hun, I was obsessed with Madge when I was younger. But the last few years shes just lost that spark. She used to set the trend but now she seems to try to follow it.

 

She used to have something to say and was outspoken in a good way, now she just tries to be a bitch.

 

Its so sad to see her jumping from one hot act to another trying to get a hit and although the weekend featuring madonna has been a semi hit so far. And that vulgur song, I like the music but shes trying to be cool but she comes off as rotten.

 

She is trying too hard to be cool, its such a shame but I bet you a fiver that if she didnt try so hard amd she just did what she loved, she would get back to getting some sort of hit again.

 

I hope and pray she can do it. Hey look at Kylie, if Kylie can do it again and again and again, Madonna at least has a fighting chance.

 

Lets all pray for her and hope for every success in the future.

 

But please Kylie and Madonna duet just no. It will drag Kylie back down to the depths of the singles chart. Kylie has worked so hard that she really doesnt need someone like Madonna trying to piggyback off Padam Padams success. Watch Madonna try to work with Lostboy and Ina to try and get a Padam Padam hit. Please Kylie dont make a song with Madonna, go out and sing at one of Madonnas concerts, fine. Would be nice to see but not a song together.

 

Where do we all think Padam Padam will be on spotify tomorrow? I can see it getting top 20 at 19 or 20 or I can also see it at 21 or 22.

We do not need to be putting Madonna down in order to big Kylie up. Kylie might have broke through with this one song but let’s not forget:

 

1) how long it took her to do it

2) how likely it is that this will be the outlier, not the start of a new imperial phrase*

 

*not for lack of hoping, anyway!
