December 23, 20222 yr Author Christmas #1 in Ireland :cheeseblock: Also impacting in the US now as it's climbing the Hot 100.
December 24, 20222 yr I haven’t really resisted Raye’s music since The Line, which I loved. This is really quite good, so happy it’s doing well for her.
December 24, 20222 yr ive enjoyed the live performances of it shes put out, each one is different which makes them interesting! so excited for march when i'm seeing her in concert! and cant wait for the album either! 2023 is gonna be her year, i can feel it
December 26, 20222 yr I'm happy this is still looking on lock for the first #1 of 2023 but I'd like it to not just be a one weeker :(
December 26, 20222 yr yeah its a shame that it blew up around christmas because although its done huge it might not get multiple weeks at #1 now. hope it can get 2 at least
December 26, 20222 yr Looking at what's there.. what could potentially knock her off after 1 week though?
December 26, 20222 yr i don't know if they'd knock her off #1 but central cee, bugzy malone, metro+weeknd are all doing really well. i'm hoping none of them are strong enough to knock her from the top but who knows!
December 26, 20222 yr Gee I hope she can hang on then. Sadly Central Cee will almost definitely have a #1 to his name at some point in 2023 though :(
December 26, 20222 yr Gee I hope she can hang on then. Sadly Central Cee will almost definitely have a #1 to his name at some point in 2023 though :( ugh praying that the fates can stop that happening. :(
December 26, 20222 yr yeah its a shame that it blew up around christmas because although its done huge it might not get multiple weeks at #1 now. hope it can get 2 at leastoop if this pulls a Joel McElderry 🙈
December 27, 20222 yr Heard this on the chart show for a few weeks but tonight really got into it and the video. Quite harrowing isn't it - reminds me of Amy Winehouse with the self destructive lyrics, the graphic video and dark mood. Such an epic and not obviously commercial too. Surely this will be no.1 for a while as can't see Metro Boomin, Central Cee or Bugzy Malone knocking her off as she has the momentum.
December 27, 20222 yr yeah i hope she gets several weeks, wouldn't complain if the was at #1 till feb tbh!
December 28, 20222 yr Up 7 to 72 on US Billboard Top100. Impressive with no fewer than 34 Christmas songs above it which will all clear out next week!
December 28, 20222 yr Unfortunately doesn't mean this will climb 34 places for free - in recent years they have usually let a bunch of songs that recently went recurrent just return to where they were in the top 50 after the Christmas songs clear out. It's amazing to see this charting at all in the US though! Interested to see how high it can get.
January 5, 20232 yr RAYE is performing 'The Thrill is Gone' on the Graham Norton Show next Friday (13th). https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001h0zx
January 5, 20232 yr RAYE is performing 'The Thrill is Gone' on the Graham Norton Show next Friday (13th). https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001h0zx OMG YES I will be watching! I hope she gets to perform at the BRITs.
January 5, 20232 yr Glad she’s performing The Thrill Is Gone, slowly becoming my favourite of the 4 released so far, plus Escapism is going to be number 1 anyways so glad to see another song get some promo, fingers crossed she can at least get another hit this year as well as the album doing well!
January 5, 20232 yr I am so happy for her. I love many of her tracks, this one still hasnt grabbed me tho!
January 5, 20232 yr Was listening to 'Escapism.' again last night and it really clicked with me more than ever before (not that I didn't already love it) - maybe I'm just getting excited for it coming to hit #1 tomorrow  Funnily enough after initially saying I didn't think it really sounded like a hit at all I now kind of feel the opposite and suddenly think it sounds like the kind of thing that has a pretty obvious X factor to become huge if TikTok caught wind of it. In any case, 2023's #1s will be off to a fantastic start - I thought 2022 was mostly a good year for #1s as well but I'd rank this ahead of all of them bar Kate Bush now I think. Also think it's pretty easily RAYE's best song for me now (I wasn't sure before if I liked it more than 'Shhh' or not).
