In any other organisation, given the sheer number of complaints Raab would have been suspended from his role so it’s even more laughable and shocking that he actually resigns rather than being told to go. This is yet another example that the Tories seem to live in their own little world where they make their own rules rather than living by everyone else’s.

And of course our plain evil right wing media are going on about "woke" leftist civil servant elite forcing out Ministers because of political differences and Brexit.

Β

Although if that was the case why focus mainly on Raab and not other of the right wing but non bullying Ministers. Stupid twats

I hate it when bullying behaviour is equated with hard work and high expectations. I’ve had two jobs over the past year. In one, my boss was a bully and my current boss is not. It’s funny how the latter manages to produce better results than the former without making his employees feel worthless.

Right-wing nutjob Lee Anderson, appointed by Sunak as deputy chair of the Tory party, has said that anti-monarchists should emigrate rather than take advantage of the right to freedom of speech.
Saw that, and of course will get away with that Scot free. He is an idiotic troll but sure I read somewhere that Conservative party members rate him extremely highly in their preferred Tory polling. Could easily be next Conservative leader if/when Sunak loses the GE.

I’d rather he emigrated instead.

If the Tories lose the election Anderson will probably lose his seat.

Yeh I follow the Twitter page which has been showing potential gains if the locals transferred to a GE and Jake Berry is another one who would but the big beasts mainly survive!
Surely if the GE pans out as we might expect right now, the Tory HQ will probably realise they've leached way too far to the right and this is off-putting for voters. Sunak is trying his best, but there are too many big influences in the Party still.

Won't Raab, Gove, Johnson all lose? That's 3 big beasts right there

It didn’t show their seats in the polls I saw, Braverman, Patel abd Trues would keep theirs

Looks like Sunak is now officially in the Theresa May stage of premiership (but unlike her, he has a huge majority) with no authority now following the 1000+ seat loss at the local elections. Where do you start, there was a conference filled with Johnson groupies like Dorries and Patel at the weekend making snide comments about Sunak (although their man appears to prefer his millions to actually doing any work), Liz Truss is about to start a diplomatic catastrophe as someone in Taiwan has asked her to give a speech, bear in mind the sensitivities with regard to China and finally and even worse Suella Braverman gave a speech tirading against elitists and going on about Keir Starmer and penises at some Q Anon ultra nationalist right nutjob foreign funded whackjob fest.

Absolutely vile stuff from vile self obsessed charlatans.

These people are pure idiots though, none of them see the damage Johnson and others did to the Conservative brand. It's like the ERG have been fully infultrated by a US backer. I don't think these policies or beliefs have any barring in the UK, would like to think there are enough not dumb Tories to sideline this element of the Party and enough swing areas that don't like that particular brand of politics and would turj to the Lib Dems.

Β

I did find the article on Rees-Mogg somehow coming to the conclusion that his own idea of implementing voter ID cost the Conservatives at the local elections.

Yes I saw that too - I actually thought at the time that the elderly would be the worst affected as many would forget to bring ID (and not have energy to go back and return to poll station) or would have let their passports or driving licenses lapse. And even though I'd prefer a few less Tory votes, it's not nice for anyone at that age to be in that position. Although he said it for the wrong reasons, I'm glad that JRM finally said something sensible.

He basically admitted they tried to do it to encourage voter suppression, but not also realising that people that may vote for them, also might not have ID readily available.

The latest News Agents podcast is on the conference & it seems quite alarming! Open homophobia, anti-divorce, antisemitism & conspiracy theories.

Β

As the hosts point out, with the number of things the speakers oppose it seems like they, rather than their opponents, are anti-Britain.

Β

They note they were also barred from interviewing attendees or certain speakers despite a tenet of the conference supposedly being free speech.

The worst at that Nat C conference was Douglas Murray describing German Nazi rule as 'mucking up' beautiful wonderful nationalism.

Β

This whole conference though seemed to be very aggressively aimed at trying to split the Tories and basically say that any moderates shouldn't belong in the Conservative movement dismissing them as Liberals. It's not an election winning strategy so you wonder why they do that - until you realise that these people aren't "playing" culture wars. They're actual far right bigots who want to silence, harm and possibly more to minorities and those who don't measure up to their ideal citizen - an ultra nationalistic, heterosexual, child producing, "Christian", compassion free, climate destroying bigot.

This is the true moment for the Tories. Johnson kicked out most of the moderates, so there's a certain wing who don't really care or will just tow the Leader's line. But even some of the massive Brexiteers have traditional conservative values - this group that are peddling the culture wars seem pretty oblivious to this brand of politics working on a larger scale. But saying that, I doubt they'd be trying if they didn't sense some movement.

Β

Will be really hard for the moderates to win back control of the Tory Party now, hence why the strategic move from Labour with Starmer appears like it may be a winning one. Especially if the Tories implode after losing a GE (which will happen).

f***ing lmao, truly top talent headlining today lads. Nice "low-tax populist" conference.

Β

Starkey's gone right in with the 'BLM is an attack on Western civilization' line. "Western civilization" in scare quotes of course.
