I despise the Tories and Sunak is incredible weak and out of touch but after earning over 2 million during the past year and paying extremely little tax due to most of his earnings being classed as wealth, how can he relate to the troubles of someone struggling on the breadline. However, I’m not entirely impressed by the Labour Party neither. Starmer seems a decent kind of chap who is more in tune with everyday people but Labour need to come up with stronger policies and more diversion away from the Tories. People are crying out for change after 14 years of the Tories and sadly the differences in policy between the two main parties is lacking.

Shame Corbyn didn't rise up the ranks now, instead of vs Brexshit and vs Blojo the Evil Clown.

Yes, Andy Burnham would have been a far better Labour leader in the referendum.

Lee Anderson has been suspended from the party for Islamophobic remarks.

Ā

This will be the thing that destroys them, he's the darling poster boy for the ultra-right wing of the party and they'll tear themselves to shreds now. I cannot wait.

Anderson is deplorable and his comments showed him as the racist he is, actually surprised the Tories actually did the right thing there (though I expect Reform UK will take him on). Truss' words were pretty dangerous too, however awkward and desperate she is to get take seriously in the US right wing circles, that sort of misinformation is harmful for people susceptible to that.
Truss is a weird woman like, she’s def not as right wing as she is making herself out to be in the past few months, like she’s starting a leadership bid before the election after all the damage she done as well!

Half of these right-wing plebs don't believe what they are spouting. They are trying to influence the brand of right-wing politics in to the UK, the ultimate aim I think is for Farrage/Truss to take control over the Conservatives, which I think is a terrible idea, but the performance of Reform might make that happen. Just not sure that level of politics can influence is imo with our current political system, and likewise I think most people are aware of the billionaire influence all these politican puppets have.

She was of course originally in the Lib Dems - spoke at their conference in 1994 arguing for the abolition of the monarchy. Now, people can change their views over time but after vociferously campaigning for remain in 2016 she then immediately switched to supporting Leave as soon as it became politically conveninent to do so (see also: Boris Johnson).

Ā

She's a completely empty vessel with absolutely no politics, ready to parrot whatever lines those willing to pay her or give her influence ask her to.

Ā

She completely failed as PM - collapsing in just 49 days (10 of which were an official mourning period for R Liz). To even have the audacity to show her face in public, let alone be paid to speak at these influential conferences is an insult to every person in this country who saw their finances well and truly fucked by her and her Chancellor back in 2022.

Ā

The Lee Anderson comments on Friday have exposed what is at the heart of significant parts of the Conservative party today; the fact that senior figures in Government couldn't call it out as it is, nor has Suella Braverman's equally racist/Islamophobic comments been called out tells you a lot about those who have money and influence in the party.

I think you could argue she’s still in favour of the abolition of the monarchy. She’s done more to further the cause than anyone else in my living memory

I must say that Baroness Warsi has been great over the last few days - she is a huge credit to the Conservatives - they really don't deserve her.

Not really that surprised, he has a history of defecting when exposed as the racist that he is, he used to be a Labour councillor until:

Ā

Mr Anderson, who was handed a four-month suspension when he hired a digger and placed concrete blocks to stop travellers illegally camping in a car park, said: "The Labour Party has been taken over by the hard-left and Momentum in particular and I will play no part in that.

Ā

But it does expose Sunak's political naivety- here was the man he trusted to front the Conservative comeback, and once again it is another disaster for him. Solid 'are you thinking what we're thinking?' vibes from the Michael Howard era.

Ā

Just to back-up my point about those who have money, power and influence in the Conservatives - it turns out one of their biggest donors, Frank Hester, has said some pretty appalling things about Diane Abbott. Of course with the current crackdown in "extremists" and toxic rhetoric that has led to the murder of MPs I'm very certain we'll be seeing this being called out by the Tories and the money returned.

Ā

Oh wait..

Ā

@1767475164218810489

Indeed!

Ā

Pity she isn’t on the right part of the political spectrum to get that from the party she’s represented for 40 years!

Yes Starmer inexplicably fails to give her the whip back - she made a very public point of wanting it back when Starmer approached her out of "concern". Now would be the perfect time to do so. Is he really scared of tabloid headlines to do so? Weak if so.
I wish they'd just call an election already. Save us the torture.
Holly Valance a fan of Truss :o

Ā

That’s Kiss Kiss cancelled then!

Ā

Holly's been back in the media recently and she's joined Reform, said that Trump is a lovely person and also says she thinks that concern about the climate is alarmism. I'm so relieved that we have the wisdom of the singer of 'Down Boy' to correct virtually the whole scientific community and can relax about all the unprecedented, damaging weather incidents over the last year. :cheer:

As much as I hate the Tories, Rachel Reeve’s comments about a new era comparable to Thatcher concern me. The Thatcher era was very damaging and included many policies which were detrimental to this country such as privatisation and the selling of council homes. People are crying out for real change and not just a different party with similar sounding ideas.
