Literally nothing of interest for me over Christmas. Even the films are naff. Roll on the first week of 2023 with Happy Valley, Silent Witness and Waterloo Road!

Yeh, I don’t think Christmas TV is a really a thing anymore outside of putting some Christmas trees around the set of entertainment shows they show all year round, and adding some snow to the graphics. It’s a vicious cycle as less people are watching so they put less effort into it which means less people watch etc

January is definitely where it’s at!

Yeah, it is a vicious cycle. I remember thinking the success of the Gavin & Stacey special a few Christmases ago would really help revitalise the Christmas schedule, however Covid really put a halt on that. Still, I don't remember the past couple of Christmas schedules being quite as dead as this. Even the films are just repeats of what's been shown numerous times throughout the year when you could usually rely on a few classics you hadn't seen in ages.
It’s because everything can be seen on streaming services now so there’s no exclusivity for Christmas!

I really fancied a chilled marathon TV day (festive Radio Times and highlighter out and everything) so this is what I have been/am watching in order for Christmas Eve:

It’s A Wonderful Life - had never seen this before but knew it was a classic!

The Snowman - RIP Raymond Briggs </3

The Snowman and the Snowdog

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse

Home Alone - I've somehow never seen this before either!

Celebrity Lego Masters at Christmas

The Great Christmas Bake Off

*insert Tennant 3 whattage*

You have never seen Home Alone before? :o What were your thoughts on it after seeing it for the first time. You should watch Home Alone 2 as well but definitely not Home Alone 3.

Indeed, there are so many classic films that I haven’t seen :drama: I only watched ‘Love Actually’ for the first time last Christmas also. Anyway, the parenting left a lot to be desired  but it was a pretty fun watch in the lead up to Christmas, mostly thanks to Kevin’s plotting. The other kids at the start were so unlikeable so he was pretty easy to root for off the bat. The second movie is on TV tomorrow so I’ll aim to check that one out and then maybe stop after there :kink:

I loved ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ so much  there was a scene in ‘Home Alone’ where they were watching it on TV in French so it impacted my day twice!

I will point out that the OP is missing the Christmas special of Inside No. 9 if you want a quality piece of TV this holiday season
I like the Christmas specials of The Chase and Pointless, so hopefully I’ll be able to see them.

Good point, those are always enjoyable too.

(Can you tell I love the quiz shows lmao  )

honestly, i'm glad top of the pops was on bbc2 tonight, if it was on as usual tomorrow i would have been so dissapointed

shame though, it used to be a xmas day tradition. at least i have death in paradise tomorrow evening to cheer me up, thats always a good'un
