And for what? Just to gain a few extra weeks in the top 40? Kate Bush’s reset was fair enough because she was contending for #1. She lost a few weeks at #1 due to ACR so it was fair enough for OCC to grant her a reset

They’d need a lot, am surprised they’re so far behind. Their iTunes sales must’ve been a lot lower than we thought, which wouldn’t bode well for CD singles

It went top 10 on first release and it didn’t repeak this time round so it was pointless giving it a reset. Lady Gaga on the other hand has never entered the top 40 with BM let alone the top 10. And as much as I like Mockingbird, it peaked at #4 in its first release so I don’t see the point of that being given a reset just to gain a few extra weeks in the top 40

I wouldn’t be bothered about my song gaining a few more weeks in the top 40 if it weren’t gonna repeak. And also, I’d be pushing songs from the most recent album instead of songs that were successful 10 years ago. Like I found it pointless when Adele asked for a reset when she had a newer song which she could’ve pushed to try and get another #1 instead of sending a former #1 back to #1

Of course the label is gonna ask for a reset of Another Love

And not push a new song... cos... he is

It's a good thing you're not a record label boss, then, so you don't have to be worried. It's not Tom Odell's fault if none of his recent material is getting any streaming support, he's not actively milking Another Love (and he's not even with the label anymore and hasn't been for the best part of a year).

 

Adele didn't ask for a reset. This is exactly what I was explaining earlier - songs that went to ACR last December were all reset in the first week of January, meaning that Easy On Me got a reset and it went back to #1. It wasn't a request, it was simply the system the OCC used earlier this year. I expect it'll be similar in January (so messy in heaven, PSYCHO, etc will all be reset).

Which, while a good idea in theory, would create absolute chaos at Christmastime with random stuff being on SCR over ACR and perhaps an even more artificial chart than what we already have :kink: the system they have, whilst random at times, is much less unpredictable.

That would make it even more random looking as we'd have Brenda Lee and Bobby Helms above Wham! and Mariah if only songs that had never been No.1 were reset!
