April 4, 20233 yr Baby steps towards her first top 50 hit  (just barely beats her previous best of #53 with 'LA NOCHE DE ANOCHE'). Seems very odd that she's had two top 50 (nearly two top 40) hits in the UK but none in the US. It has given her a new peak as lead artist on global Spotify as well, initially debuted at #5 matching the peak of 'DESPECHÁ' but briefly rose to #4 later in the week. ('LA NOCHE DE ANOCHE' peaked at #2).
April 4, 20233 yr There is definitely some logic to having acts like this in the indie forum... I know she is pop but there are certain pop acts that cross over more into the tastes of typical indie fans. From a purely selfish point of view, I know if a pop act gets posted in here that I'm way more likely to be on board with them  and don't have to sift through the many other threads in the pop forum that aren't at all to my personal taste. We don't really have a rock following on the site any longer and 'indie' actually means anything on an independent label - so would include the likes of Robyn etc despite the fact that she would clearly also sit well in pop - or at times dance! Admittedly Rosalía is absolutely major label and major success on an international level so has less of an argument to be in here. What we've always seemed to have on this site is a rough split between fans of out and out pop music and then fans of more alternative leaning pop and dance music. It doesn't mean that the two can't cross, obviously. There's also something about the types of artists that get posted in this forum would initially bomb without trace in the pop or dance forums whilst more of the chart friendlier acts gain more traction in number of replies.
