What do you make of this dance classic? Is it a standout to you from its time?

It takes me back a lot. On the Now album it was featured on that I played a lot. I wouldn't say it's a massive favourite of mine but still a tune.

I remember from your NOW album discussion that you aren't a fan of '2 Times', awardinary.

I do really like it, it joins the Vengaboys-style production trend of 1999 and there was also Rollergirl - Dear Jessie with similar production but that didn't chart in the UK until 2000.

It's a song I initially disliked when it started rotation on the music channels in summer 1999 but I quickly grew to its twee ways and ended up buying it when it was released. Shame she put it out the same week as Genie In A Bottle, as it deserved No.1. Also the same week as B*Witched's comeback Jesse Hold On, which I believe Asda and Woolies etc expected to chart higher than 2 Times.

It's still a classic to me. I also bought her album a few months later which was...basically 12 versions of the same song.

Someone else noticed It copied the beat of Wamdue Project's song 'King Of My Castle (Roy Malone Remix)' that was a success in late 1998/1999 previous to '2 Times'

Two remakes were released last year and there's actually a "southstar 2.0" drama in it.

TIL that its remake by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Steve Aoki ripped off Irish producer Will Atkinson's 'fun bootleg' of it. Will had shared his frustration about it on Facebook last month:

With DVLM x Steve Aoki version has already bagged 18 million Spotify streams (and Will's is just <200k) now, I completely understand Will's feelings and I'm extremely sorry for him. :( It is just another secondhand embarrassment in the mainstage EDM scene.
