September 7, 20231 yr These charts are a joke now. Pink going to drop out the top 20 albums because of old catalogue albums, Kylie’s singles success completely missing due to ancient songs. If these charts don’t reflect the year, then what is the point?
September 7, 20231 yr Author There’s certainly a strong case for going back to a Top 200 for the year end chart.
September 7, 20231 yr Can anyone genuinely say The Highlights is really the biggest album of the year? Like come on lmao.
September 7, 20231 yr The year-end album chart is somewhat a joke, but I don't have any problems with singles. It's a fair representation of the most popular songs of the year and doesn't depend on definitions unlike album chart.
September 7, 20231 yr Can anyone genuinely say The Highlights is really the biggest album of the year? Like come on lmao. It is the biggest playlist of the year, as Bjork often says. ;)
September 7, 20231 yr Author It is the biggest playlist of the year, as Bjork often says. ;) It’s not even that though. I doubt many people are going onto Spotify and deciding to give The Highlights a listen. It just contains many songs that are individually popular and getting lots of streams, and all the “sales” from those tracks are counting towards The Highlights. So it does reflect the popularity of The Weeknd as an artist but it’s nothing to do with the popularity of that album.
September 7, 20231 yr Think that was just a reference to the absolutely hilarious and not at all tired joke of referring to the album as the 'This Is The Weeknd' playlist.
September 7, 20231 yr I think I’d love to see a YTD / YE chart without the singles that were on ACR all year. That was we could get cleared of the deadwood on passive streaming, highlight the hits of 2023 without forgetting old tracks that took off too (Cruel Summer, Dog Day Are Over etc.)
September 8, 20231 yr Where are lavender haze and late night talking? These are two songs that I’m surprised are still in
September 8, 20231 yr Author Where are lavender haze and late night talking? These are two songs that I’m surprised are still in #76 and #69 respectively. Lavender Haze is down to about 5k per week so I doubt it will survive. Late Night Talking is on about 6k per week so has a much better chance.
September 8, 20231 yr Author The following are currently bleeding and unlikely to see the year out: Out of nowhere Rush Lavender haze Bad habit Psycho Lionheart Heaven Easy on me Mockingbird Shallow is also looking like it could miss out for the first time.
September 8, 20231 yr Does the Haven guy not post albums anymore? Thought he fixed the file he thought he had lost
September 8, 20231 yr Author Does the Haven guy not post albums anymore? Thought he fixed the file he thought he had lost He's doing them much less frequently now - guess we might not get an update until the end of the quarter. how safe is Loreen then? She's #74 with 309k I estimate, and the bar will be about 400k so as long as her streams hold up reasonably well, which they look to be at the moment, she should make it.
September 8, 20231 yr My estimate for it is 272k, but Go Your Own Way at #100 is just under 280k. It will get closer still this week with the new single boost but still probably a bit short. I have read that it is currently on 283,692. So may well have made the top 100 by now? That said, I see that ‘Go Your Own Way’ is doing well this week.

Yeah everything near the bottom of the table is doing solidly so no way it will enter with that figure sorry! Still could get there in future weeks though.

September 8, 20231 yr Author Did you intentionally leave out Hell N Back? If so, that would be incredible if it made the year end list! Well those are the songs that I’m definitely expecting to drop out but there could be others. Hell N Back is just about doing enough to hold its position for now but my guess is that it will tail off. :(
