I think it was smart leaving 'Nirvana' to be the follow up single (ala 'Dark Horse') as like the song to help salvage and save the era IF things were to go wrong with the lead single (I don't think it will, I think WW will be a decent enough hit, but following it up immediately with 'Nirvana' could save the album/era from being a meh campaign to a "OK Katy's back")

The other 2 aren't sounding too great to me though. Especially 'I'm His, He's Mine'.

I am going to predict that 'Gimme Gimme' will be the one song that randomly takes off on Tik Tok and become a hit though. Idk why, but I get that vibe from it

EDIT: Also, I actually prefer the normal artwork over the alternative! Both are great though.

I think Gorgeous sounds like the best of the new tracks.
Translucent orange vinyl with alternate artwork now up for pre-order from Spotify! Not quite as good artwork as the other two though so think I’ll pass on that one :kink:

How are we expecting the rest of this era to go?

Is there a way she can turn things around? If so how do people feel she can approach this.

I’ve been thinking re this album today and what a combination of what not to do in the lead up to a release that’s ended up happening. Supposedly she’s said that the album is in three parts.

This kind of makes me think of a post I’d made at the weekend though about the lack of vision / growth that she seems to have had. It all feels quite stuck. I wish she’d went down a new lane and done something exciting / reinvented. Ill reserve judgement of the rest of the album until I hear it but I don’t think this fills me with a lot of hope and I was willing to get on board if the music was worthy of that.

(Also a bit early for this but how are people expecting this to do in terms of its chart life)

I don’t really get the three parts from what she said. Dark Horse was very 2014, the second is like her fan favourites and her third is her… the songs shr listed there are playful and silly. I guess Woman’s World must belong to the third category then.

It looks like there's already a 'Dark Horse's part two (Gimme Gimme) and a 'Walking On Air' part two (Lifetimes), so rehashing past glories is literally what she seems to be doing!

(Not that I necessarily have a problem with that if they're that good!)

This!! Walking on Air deserves irs flowers anyway and should have been a sequel, so I'm here for a p2 to dmash.

This clip resurfacing as well.

I do genuinely feel in some way she perhaps really felt like this was going to be quite the big comeback for her though and I imagine at the minute she’s feeling a little shocked / taken a back by the backlash she’s received. I almost want some sort of interview where she mentions the process and mentions why she worked with who she’s worked with. Her and her team must be having or about to have some pretty major talks though on how the roll out is going to go.

A JID collab???

I guess the money was too tempting :kink: I'm surprisingly optimistic about how that track will sound, he usually only features on songs that good tbf.

HMV have listed two different variants of the CD. One is an exclusive edition. Apart from a different cover, does anyone know if it will include additional tracks? HMV recently did something similar with One Republic’s album resulting in one of the CDs being a deluxe edition with 3 extra tracks.

Not 100%! But on HMVs site it gives you the option on certain orders to actually look at the Track Listing so you could look that way. If the full tracklist is available it should show you on there.

Sometimes with HMV though the “exclusive” part does just mean the artwork is different but the tracklisting isn’t. I know some of Lanas albums and the last Paloma Faith album that was the case but If the option is there to check the track listing have a look that way if you can :)

Who?!??!

  • 3 weeks later...

Very curious here now as to what tracks from the album were previewed here given what we’ve heard from the era so far.

It’s so far from all of those things at this point. I really feel like this was what she set out to do as well but it just hasn’t necessarily felt natural or authentic.

Genuinely curious as to the first week sales / position of this though. UK wise surely she can possibly do about as well as what Rita Ora and Jess Glynne did with their most recent albums as they’ve similarly went from being hit makers to a pretty steep decline.
