February 9, 20232 yr Bit silly that people on a chart forum are moaning about who is doing the most for a chart battle. Good on both of them! Ps just saw Shania befriending old ladies in my local tesco. She means business...
February 9, 20232 yr Now I don’t want to keep posting about this but this is just an egregious lie to feed into the victim narrative she’s trying to use to her advantage. Shania isn’t on her old label, same parent company but different label, and I guarantee Shania and her team don’t even know who she is never mind care enough to sabotage her album campaign. I can’t stand the conspiracies @1623775802595725314 Edited February 9, 20232 yr by No Sleeep

I can’t stand the conspiracies @1623775802595725314 She's under the same umbrella I think? I think you'd be surprised, they probably care somewhat as Shania hasn't done this kind of promotion for an album in a whole or at least in a long time. I don't think an artist like her would usually do this type of promotion. But it's fine keep on dissing an independent artist - desperate, inappropriate, lying amongst other remarks
February 9, 20232 yr Shania is on Republic Records, RAYE was on Polydor, but both are sublabels within Universal Music Group, so yes, Shania is on her old label technically. Let's not accuse RAYE of lying as if she doesn't know what her old label is, she's got every right to want to beat them and is already doing so well to even be close.
February 9, 20232 yr She literally just supported Universal’s breadwinner Lewis Capaldi on tour somehow I doubt they’ve masterminded a conspiracy to make her album debut at #2  And Shania has hardly even done half of the campaigning Raye has, she’s already in the UK due to Starstruck starting next week and she had that HMV signing planned ages ago. I’m not saying no one should campaign for a #1 but trashing the competition/making it out to be a big guy vs little guy conspiracy is just misleading. Shania’s a 57 year old woman, not many of them ever get anywhere close to #1 on the charts
February 9, 20232 yr I wondered how long it would take for Capaldi to get an mention..
February 9, 20232 yr I really don’t get why Shania should be shamed? She’s promoting the album and her upcoming tour? But let’s bash her label for wanting to get her a #1. All labels are doing this in close battles, i don’t really think it’s anything too personal.

You're being really obnoxious with it all - loads of people have made a lot of detailed comments why Raye is doing this and it's so important for her as a independent artist who was screwed over by her label. No one has said Shania doesnt deserve or diminished her or been rude, but you certainly have. Its just such an odd and misinformed take - I haven't seen anyone anywhere have such a hot take about an independent artist who was taken advantage of and had a horrid journey to get where she is ....wanting success.

But people are taking Rates comments so serious and belittling what she's been through. I actually don't know why I bother really - this forum is so hilariously out of touch with the real world. An alternate universe almost, with the weirdest hottest takes about almost everything.

Shania’s a 57 year old woman, not many of them ever get anywhere close to #1 on the charts Nobody suggested they have masterminded a conspiracy. It would simply be a personal win for RAYE after Universal and Polydor did her dirty when she was on their roster. It's nothing personal from RAYE to Shania and I assume, based on what I've seen about RAYE, that she'd be the first to support other women and celebrate their wins. However, when she's so close to a #1 for herself, she has every right to campaign and it *would* be a middle finger to her old label if she did make it. I think RAYE's already exceeding expectations when all of this has come as a result of, effectively, one TikTok hit (not that she was an unknown before Escapism. blew up, but there was obviously little interest in her material away from the playlist-supported dance features). Most artists who blow up from TikTok don't get anywhere near this high in the album chart so she's doing really well regardless, the #1 would just be the cherry on the cake. Equally, it'd be great for Shania to hit the top!
February 9, 20232 yr Who honestly gives a shit? She’a an artist who is trying to score a number 1 album. There is literally nothing stopping from Shania’s team to do the exact same thing. She literally uses Twitter too??

I actually don't know why I bother really - this forum is so hilariously out of touch with the real world. An alternate universe almost, with the weirdest hottest takes about almost everything. While I 100% agree with your RAYE comments and think the criticisms of her are utterly stupid, I wouldn't say nobody is belittling Shania there are a few equally idiot posts about her eg: Shania has been in literally every supermarket, corner shop and pub in the country doing album signings despite having one foot in the grave and the achievement of an additional UK #1 album being almost meaningless to someone of her stature. It is the most bizarrely random and desperate campaign from a big name that I can recall. I personally think good on them both it's a huge achievement either way. For RAYE due to overcoming years of struggling to get to this point and for Shania for being a woman in her late 50s potentially achieving a #1 album (and it would also be a #1 in a third decade for her). I personally am backing Shania but best of luck to them both.
February 9, 20232 yr I swear labels pick these chart battles on purpose to milk the fans it's like why Arctics and Taylor released on the same date last year, fans get carried out and multibuy to help their faves and labels know it wouldn't happen without a chart battle, Everybody wins in the end, no matter who ends at #1 and #2, both Raye and Shania will sell more than if they had released in a quiet week Love how both are promoting and fighting for it, the only thing I don't like is Raye's comment to the fans at the meet and greet, that's disappointing. QUOTE(Dane @ Feb 9 2023, 06:07 AM) * When meeting Raye last night at her Birmingham album signing and gig she said that Shania is under Raye's old label so her worry is they will go to any effort to stop her getting the number one.

Why is that such a bad comment? I don't get it. Raye knows her label and them better than any of us do - who are we to take away from her experience of what lengths her label would go to. It's not like she's bashing Shania personally, she's not stupid and like Joseph said supports women publicly and uplifts others all the time.

February 9, 20232 yr I wasn't being serious about Shania. I just think that if you're going to be weirdly critical of either artist, it's weird to target the indie artist trying to grab her probable only ever shot at #1 and not the already extremely successful artist with a three-decade career behind her.
February 9, 20232 yr Okay yeah I'll give you that comment - it just got lost in a sea of mostly one poster tbf. Again... I am inclined to agree
