Has anyone compiled a list of the artists who have had a new hit in the most unique years? I wonder if P!nk may be starting to inch towards the top of that list.

(also I would definitely consider anyone who can reach the top 40 multiple times sufficiently 'relevant' in the streaming era! Worth noting as well that P!nk's singles have tended to still have pretty lengthy chart runs even when they don't peak that highly, for example 'All I Know So Far' did only scrape into the top 40 for a week yes but it spent 10 weeks in the top 50, and it looks like 'Never Gonna Not Dance Again' may do similarly)

I might attempt to compile such a list

in regards to streaming, Pink does generally poorly on Spotify but

Very well on Amazon, hence the longevity but not high peaks of recent singles

But also, Kate Bush might have a +40 yr career span

But having 1 hit every 15 years in the last 30 years

Is not the same as Kylie or Madonna having a hit every 2 or 3 yrs without a pause

We've also got Beyoncé fast approaching 20 years with no signs of slowing down.

*edit - actually over 20 years now if we're talking 'Work It Out'

Her 2021 song with Rag’n’Bone Man (which she’s credited on as a co-lead artist) hit #9, so that’s a better stat for that year.

Oh yes, completely overlooked her duet with Rag'n'Bone Man!

Coldplay had their first top 40 hit in 2000 so assuming their new music goes top 40 this year (which is pretty much a certainty) that'll be 23 years for them, another impressive span even if I don't particularly rate their output these days.

Would Destiny’s Child years count for Beyoncé?

If Shania follows suit I might cave and get one of those leopard print picture discs!

Shania update:

CD and vinyl reduced on Amazon and official store.

Also, opportunity to appear on stage with Shania if you buy the album on any format!

Damn it, I wanted the Shania Twain leopard print vinyl, didn't realise it was limited! Was waiting to see if it was reduced in release week.

It’s still available it’s just not been reduced… yet!

Cliff also has a 51 year top 40 career from 1958 to 2009

Nat 'King' Cole has a 70 year span of new Top 40 hits, 1952 to 2022! Albeit the last one was posthumous.

Cliff is a good shout for hits in most years though.
