Posted February 5, 20232 yr Thinking of the tour got me thinking what are Madonna’s best intro’s? Choose 3 HOLIDAY - Infectious, Recognisable, Orgasmic Papa Dont Preach - Runner Up 4 Minutes
February 5, 20232 yr I'd agree with Holiday and Papa don't preach as two of the top three but I think Vogue has to be in there too and Drowned world / My substitute for love (yes I know that is four I know!!)
February 5, 20232 yr As much as I'm not keen on the song, the intro to HOLIDAY is probably the best. EXPRESS YOURSELF with it's "C'mon girls... do you believe in love?" And RAY OF LIGHT as it starts quite calmly before kicking off. I wondered about Vogue as well, but most of the intros for it are a bit too long and the original 7" rarely used.
February 6, 20232 yr Song intros and middle-8s are definitely two components Madonna has mastered. Some others not already mentioned that are coming to my mind: the sparkling synth on 'Lucky Star', the drums and the "watch out!" on 'Open Your Heart' and the prayer on 'Girl Gone Wild'. The Vivaldian-style string intro to 'Papa Don't Preach' is one of my favourites and of course the minute-long intro to 'Vogue' bookended with "what are you looking at?" and "strike a pose" is iconic.
February 8, 20232 yr A lot of great mentions already so I won't repeat them, but I'm adding Sorry into the mix. The build-up in instrumentation and the multi-lingual lyrics - genius
February 14, 20232 yr So many it's hard to say one really. 'Live To Tell' I'll throw in the mix but 'Power of Goodbye, 'Frozen', 'Ray of Light', 'Holiday', 'Sorry', Crazy For You' and 'Vogue' are all fab intros for me
