so 120k sales of Life Is A Rollercoaster were disqualified. How much would it have done then first week?
Its official first week sale was 94,400 so that would have made it about 215k or so had all sales counted.

most of the top 10 are from tv reality shows so without them shaggy bob the builder and the fantastic kylie minogie make the top 3,,,im surprised madonna isnt on that list i thought she had a few very high debut weeks
One week sales of the decade

24. Michael Andrews & Gary Jules - Mad World (227,500) - w/b 21/12/03

25. The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End) (222,561) - w/b 27/12/03*

weren't these released the same week??

The top 10 would now look like this...

01 Will Young - Anything Is Possible (1.108,000) - w/b 03/03/02

02 Gareth Gates - Unchained Melody (850,000) - w/b 24/03/02

03 Shayne Ward - That's My Goal (742,180) - w/b 25/12/05

04 Leona - A Moment Like This (571.253) w/b 24/12/06

05 Hear'Say - Pure And Simple (549,823) - w/b 18/03/01

06 Will Young - Anything Is Possible (377,000) - w/b 10/03/02

07 Bob The Builder - Can We Fix It? (359,639) - w/b 24/12/00

08 Shaggy feat. Ricardo "RIKROK" Ducent - It Wasn't Me (345,498) - w/b 04/03/01

09 X Factor Finalists 2008 - Hero (313,244) - w/b 27/10/08

10 Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head (306,648) - w/b 23/09/01

big shame they beat Kylie, not deserving at all.

Yes :(

But in the end Hero's total sales won't be as high as Kylie's.

SHAGGY AND KYLIE are the only 2 in the top 10 that didnt come from some sort of tv gimmick so when you take them all out it shows how huge the kylie and shaggy hits really were

Depressingly i dislike 7 of the top 9 (there are only 9 songs) :( (though Shayne Ward and Gareth Gates are OK i guess)

Any chance of any all time first week sales? I know I may be pushing it a bit here

It also shows how high single sales were at the time - market has changed so markedly it's really hard to compare individual singles in the 2000s.
