February 14, 20233 yr All the OCC needed to say with Running Up That Hill was that they had decided to give the song a reset because the purpose of ACR was always to move songs that are past their peak down the chart, not to prevent songs reaching a new peak. Then it wouldn’t have opened the door to all these completely pointless resets. I realise there would be a bit of chaos at Christmas if everything getting a new peak needed to be reset, but actually it would be quite interesting if the old classics took turns. The Christmas chart is carnage even with everything on ACR so throwing in a few resets wouldn’t do much harm (and push the annoying Amazon exclusives down a bit).

Especially when a lot of these songs already had high peaks in the past. When I Was Your Man already peaked at #2, Mockingbird already peaked at #4 so those getting resets is pointless. I’ll make an exception with Kate Bush because she was a contender for #1 when she got a reset so her getting a reset resulted in her topping the charts. They should only reset old songs if it will result in them gaining a new peak and as for Xmas songs if they really wanna give those resets, they should only give resets to the ones which have never reached #1 Edited February 14, 20233 yr by Hadji
February 14, 20233 yr Agree to an extent but a song which is having renewed popularity for a whole new audience or generation also should be reset imo despite not necessarily repeaking chart wise.

February 14, 20233 yr I disagree with the new peak thing, should be about being popular again not necessarily a new peak Whats stupid is to give a reset cos a song i nominated for an award like GGG, that's nothing to do with the song being popular Another Love has been genuinely popular last year, if something it deserved an earlier reset an earlier reset would have meant the song being top 40 earlier and even more popular and that would have pushed it to a new peak so actually you never know what's gonna happen with repeaks you say no to a song to reset this week, and doesn't repeak, but if you had reset it, being top 40 would have introduced to more people and would have peaked the week after... I think it's not as black or white... Also Another Love mathed its original peak, it did re-peak so...
February 14, 20233 yr At least (I would assume) When I Was Your Man had an increase in streams of more than 25% at least once in recent weeks, so would have been reset anyway with no 3-year rule in place - by the same token, one would expect it to decline once the genuine increase in interest it picked up starts to wear off (if it hasn't already), meaning it should in theory be back on ACR quite soon. The same can't be said of Green Green Grass, and there's a chance we could be stuck with that for a while :lol:
