Back to my turn for album review week and this time I'll be going for rock and my pick will be Red Hot Chili Peppers 2002 album By The Way. They are a band I have loved growing up so it's pretty much a instant pick in some way. I do own Stadium Arcadium by them but to be honest that had 2 discs worth of songs and we'd be here 3 hours  not that most aren't used to that with BJSC of course. This one spawned 4 top 40 hits and a US and Canada release single only in the form of 'Dosed' which replaced 'Universally Speaking' which was the UK single in it's place. Do you have any memories of any of this era for the band? Let us know in this thread. Also this gives me a reason to message my guitar tutor as they are his all time favorite band and we've certainly learnt a few of their songs on guitar including one of the album tracks here!

A listen through will be sorted asap!

I bought this one at the time, thought it was the band at their peak. Zephyr Song is my fave, and I havent played it since 2003 I guess.... :o
I am really excited for this! I know most of the songs posted above and so am looking forward to hearing the rest!

It's my favourite of the singles too, always loved that one especially

Great choice - it's definitely them at their most mainstream but it's also a rare 16 track album that I can listen to from start to end. Indeed I did so just the other week! Aside from the singles, my faves have always been the final stretch from Tear onwards.

My mum loved this album though so that's a sign of how mainstream they had become at this point

Okay so we're going for Friday. I'll do it about 9.15. Seems good sort of time for no one to miss hopefully if they tune in a tad late and I'm doing something else up to till 9ish too. Will post a link to the room shortly before that.
Its a great album overall and for me its their best album and will stay that way, they were so huge at at this point aswell.
The title track and 'Can't Stop' are both among their best singles, I don't remember the others that well but I probably will have heard them so will see if I recognise them.

One of my absolute favourite albums, certainly of the 2000s

My favourite tracks weren't UK singles: Dosed and Cabron, while I'd also put Minor Thing and Warm Tape up there with the four UK hits.

Fridays aren't usually the best for me, but I'll try to make the listen through.

I mean I did open it to others saying Thursday or Friday but then messaged the other 00's mods and they said BJSC Semis are tonight so some will have their attention diverted to that  and with BJSC listen throughs over the weekend it limits it somewhat. So Friday would be the only available day. Sorry if it's not convenient for all but should still be a good turn out I hope ^_^

This isn't on the album but looking up Wikipedia this was originially written to be included on the album. Peaking at 11!
