Are you for real? There are many better entries that will deservedly qualify and score higher than her. Her live vocals are appalling.

I’m not often in the habit of espousing the opinion of those other than myself. So yes, I do think this entry is among the top 5 best of the year. Obviously all a matter of personal taste, but I would only put Sweden, Norway and France ahead of it.

I’d put France, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Slovenia, Belgium, Armenia, Ukraine, Australia at the very least in front of her.

I can't even figure out why she has such trouble singing the song... Girl what is your range, like, half an octave? It constantly sounds either too low or too high for her. I don't think it's because she's moving too much - possibly nerves, but possibly also she just has very poor breath support and technique…? I was expecting shaky but not THIS bad at this stage. It’s giving Embers 2021.

(She seems really sweet and I love her humor. Feel terrible for her that she's going up there with clearly so little experience singing live.)

Let’s not forget another Brit who is performing at the Grand Final and could completely outshine her. I’ll give you a hint… Sam Ryder.

Dodgy vocals worked wonders for Sertab  Also, personally I don’t think Mae’s vocals are poor - certainly not the strongest but some people are acting as if she can’t hold a note

That’s 2003 and they have left Mae completely exposed with no backing support.

But Mae, the BBC, her management etc., don’t seem to think it’s a major issue as they could have changed it - I feel like after her first performance people questioned the singing on social media that it’s now stuck and people have blown it up when actually she’s not terrible, as I said certainly not the strongest singer but as we’ve seen year after year being the best singer doesn’t automatically result in the best placing at the end of the night.

Bottom 5. Save it.

Unfortunately I still don’t share the love and excitement for our entry that many of you do. I really wish I could be more enthusiastic! From Day 1 I have been able to recognise that it’s highly catchy… but otherwise I just haven’t warmed to it. Something about it just won’t click, and I honestly don’t know why, as on paper it should be right up my street. Nevertheless I’ll keep my fingers crossed that Mae does really well on Saturday!
I’m not massively familiar with our song but the clip they showed during SF2 this evening sounded woeful to me. I’d grumbled about Poland earlier this evening but the UK also sounded like a Clean Bandit reject (or actually just a recent Clean Bandit single :kink: ) but with worse vocals than Poland I’m afraid
I think the verses are fine, but the chorus sounds LIMP and that’s not good when it’s supposed to be a punchy uptempo - they could easily what Poland did for Blanka
Watching the clip on semi final 2 left me disappointed ,i thought the vocals were not great at all, the studio version i really enjoyed but based on that clip its dropped a lot for me, hopefully she can pull it out of the bag Saturday night as prior to seeing the clip tonight it was in my Top 5.
this NEEDS backing vocals

its sad that in a song competition, people prefer supporting the use of tricks to pretend to sound better than supporting the ones who dont need such tricks and can sing live perfectly

what they did for Blanka was almost a playback with back vocals almost being the main vocal, so she didnt had any effort because her live is awfull.

Exactly!

I don’t think this SHOULD come bottom 5 tomorrow, but I can certainly see a case in which it WILL.

That clip they showed did seem very weak. The energy just wasn’t there and the da dadadada dai bit didn’t feel elevated enough. Hopefully the full performance is better (will watch later), but that has lowered my expectations for how we will do.
