nothing too surprising so far, and nothing from my top 43 has cropped up yet. So, Backchat next please or one of those relatively glum post-Freddie tracks that havent cropped up yet....

No losses there. 'No One But You..' whilst not the worst here is quite the bore for me. Nice to see Brian and Roger on vocals, the latter has a solid voice tbh but yeah not for me that song.
49th - Bohemian Rhapsody (with The Muppets, 2009)

Score: 169

Average score: 8.45

Highest: 48 - dandy*

Lowest: 0 - 13 voters

Polyhex entry:

26/12/2009 Queen And The Muppets Bohemian Rhapsody 32 {32}-54->2

This started out a Youtube video which went viral in November 2009, before the single was made available to download the following month.

The majority of voters gave this 0 but a few substantial scores ensured it reached the Top 50. It hasn't managed to replicate its 31st position in the BBC poll (though again you wonder how many of those votes might have been people not reading the options carefully enough).

:drama:

I think you will find that people only voted for the original because they wrongly assumed it was the Muppets version. Disgraceful!

I pressed play on that Muppets video - and then couldn't last more than 30 seconds. Just no....

47th - Headlong, 1991

Score: 254

Average score: 12.70

Highest: 29 - Bjork

Lowest: 0 - BananasInPyjamas

Polyhex entry:

25/05/1991 Queen Headlong 14 28-{14}-24-45->4

This was third single from the "Innuendo" album and in fact the highest peaking of the three non chart toppers from it. It was written by Brian May but after hearing Freddie sing it he allowed it to become a Queen song.

There was a big step up from 48th to 47th and we're very much now into the songs that scored consistently across the voters. However this one wasn't in anyone's top 20 which cost it.

I think (irrespective of my earlier slightly outdated votes) 'Headlong' is very weak single from Freddie lead Queen so glad it's lowest here.

46th - Let Me Live, 1996

Score: 261

Average score: 13.05

Highest: 37 - Smint

Lowest: 0 - PopChartFreak, Chez Wombat

Polyhex entry:

29/06/1996 Queen Let Me Live 9 {9}-26-51-75->4

This gospel style song was the last top 10 hit actually released by Queen excluding remixes and features, and was the fourth single from "Made In Heaven". Apparently it had originally been recorded with Rod Stewart in 1983.

45th - Somebody To Love (with George Michael), 1993

Score: 272

Average score: 13.60

Highest: 38 - Roba.

Lowest: 0 - dandy*, Bjork, Smint, dj_tim_e

Polyhex entry:

01/05/1993 George Michael And Queen With Lisa Stansfield Five Live EP 1 {1}-1-1-2-4-6-16-22-27-56-72-74R(2)->12

This was the first track from the "Five Live EP" in 1993, and the BBC decided to include only this in their poll which this is based on, and not the other tracks:

Killer / Papa Was A Rollin' Stone - George Michael (this mash-up is really interesting and my favourite track on the EP)

These Are The Days Of Our Lives - George Michael and Lisa Stansfield

Calling You - George Michael

Dear Friends - Queen

I guess this version of "Somebody To Love" served a specific purpose and it's unsurprising that it's not considered to stand up to the original. This is however the highest placed song that arguably isn't really a Queen track.

Quite like all of those, the first two I'm not surprised aren't higher up though but I really enjoyed George Michael's version of STL from the tribute. I guess the fact that it is so well regarded for the original version brings it down however!
I liked Let Me Live, didn't know it was so old, but guess all the Made in Heaven tracks are

42nd seems a bit low for that - the first song from the original Greatest Hits to drop out!

Yeah a tiny bit surprised at 'Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy' not making it into the top 40 here.

'Spread Your Wings' is a bit meh and 'Scandal' is ok.

I do like 'Let Me Live' - I generally prefer the post 89 Queen stuff more than most here, maybe as it was charting at the time I was listening to it and find the early 80s stuff too overplayed and in some cases too polished.
Spread Your Wings is decent Queen suffering from not being on Greatest Hits, and Good Old Fashioned Loverboy is a lovely pastiche of 1930's/40's musichall styled jollity, so both under-rated. On the EP Killer is easily the best track, but it's not really Queen at all, it's George Michael. Not too fussed about the others going out.... :)
