I was a fan of 'The Way' as aforementioned but my personal chart was really sporadic at the time so 'Popular Song' was actually the first song I ever charted by her!

 

I decided to listen to the Wicked soundtrack for the first time in the background today, after being hyped for the films with the new release date announced, very much looking forward to Ariana tackling 'Popular' as her character Glinda is the one who sings it *.* what a full circle moment.

 

04. Baby I

That intro sounding identical to 'Get Sexy' will never fail to catch me off guard :drama: :lol: this is my favourite Yours Truly single nowadays I think!

'Baby I' is still a bit of a banger. I never really listen to it outside of the album and I always forget how much I like it. It feels like the closest sounding to the 'My Everything' than the others so far.

 

05. Right There (feat. Big Sean)

Final stop off at the Yours Truly era! This is definitely my least favourite single from it though, oops :kink:

 

It is the only album of hers that we've never done a rate for in the AF so that'll definitely be happening for the 10 year anniversary! Interested to see what the results will be like.

I like 'Right There' but I'm not surprised it wasn't much of a hit. In terms of Big Sean collabs, I'd say it's better than 'Research' but not as good as 'Best Mistake' (or 'Problem' lol).

'Baby I' sounding better than I remembered on this listen. 'Popular Song' and 'Right There' still not really doing much for me though.

 

06. Problem (feat. Iggy Azalea)

...from one Big Sean related song to another :kink: but now, a far more successful one :o I remember being obsessed with this at the time! Admittedly, the horn trend has dated a lot, but this is still fun.

Problem is really what turned me into a proper stan.

 

It might be the most I have ever anticipated the release of a song. It was back when Ari was very active on Twitter and she had followed me the month before and I had came to 'Yours Truly' late so it was the first release of hers that I heard at the time.

 

It might not sound very in fashion any more and Iggy now seems like a crazy feature but I still love it. It's so nostalgic for me.

 

07. Break Free (feat. Zedd)

I still love 'Break Free' and think the video is iconic!!!

The relevancy of this song today with Bad Bunny (and James Corden x) covering it on his Carpool Karaoke segment *.*

Jessie J jumpscare x (have always thought this is one of her better songs though, albeit still not one I love)

'Bang Bang' would be better without Jessie J. Nicki's verse is catchier than the actual chorus.

 

I'm glad it went out in the latest round of the US Top 10 Hit Survivor.

 

09. Love Me Harder (with The Weeknd)
