yes, climbing on itunes is the key for this week's #1 lol

It doesn’t seem to help when a song no matter how high it is on Spotify, is quite low on iTunes. It’s not like iTunes doesn’t count anymore. I’m not expecting Kushner to go to #1 on iTunes, as long as he’s quite high on there, it shouldn’t dent his chances of going #1

I'm still unconvinced that the Heat Waves massive resurgence on Spotify is a genuine popularity boost at the moment, the song hasn't moved whatsoever on Apple (#86 today) or Amazon (#75) - does anyone have anecdotal evidence of it taking off on TikTok again or can we still hope it's just going to be a short-lived random autoplay boost??

Why would Polydor invest in payloa for Heat Waves? It's already been a big hit. What would they gain from it? :???:

They want a record (most weeks in top 10 i Think).

That sucks. Just before the song was about to have 3 years to date and wouldn't have the possibility to get a reset...

I like heat waves it’s always gonna be a classic for me especially in the summer but the fact that it’s climb is only on Spotify and nothing on Apple or Amazon makes me think it’s linked to some sort of auto play thing that’s happened in the past

Maybe the label haven't given it any payola. Perhaps it's the song that Spotify's algorithm is most likely to play following David Kushner - Daylight if you have autoplay or go on its radio.

That probably isn't the reason though. I think without label payola the autoplay/radio lists are too personalised to each account to have that sort of effect, and we would've seen loads of songs similar to Flowers getting big boosts when that was released.

LOL at Heat Waves. The reaction on the Friday Chart Show thread when it's back in the charts.

If it really is just coming up to 3 years and therefore wouldn't be able to get a reset after that, then I would imagine that might be the reason why the record company would be giving it another final boost?

The rebound is happening in every country so I'm not sure there's any reason to speculate UK chart specific conspiracy.

i just CANT believe ppl are into heat waves AGAIN, like??? the song is up everywhere on spotify in a lot of countries

Very odd Heat Waves boost suddenly... SO happy for Labrinth :cheer: and he's on HHUK too!

Edit: the Heat Waves boost is global – very suspicious, must be the autoplay? unless something happened of which we’re unaware?

Wasn't aware of the global effect.

I was just making a suggestion rather than a statement as to why it might have got a boost, but with the additional information it appears not.

But it didnt have a little increase, it doubled streams

Went from 100k one day to nearly 200k the next

Thats not very normal
