I don’t think it’s an unreasonable question to ask, most old songs chart for a reason and there aren’t usually so many by the same artist (many of which weren’t even singles in the first place!) and I haven’t known a US tour to have such an impact on the UK charts pretty much ever

 

I didn't say it was unreasonable...?

 

It is possibly a bigger tour effect than usual yes (though bearing in mind most if not all of these songs were probably already doing pretty big residual numbers even before the tour just off the back of how huge 'Midnights' was so it's not like they've been boosted from zero), but then it is an insanely hyped tour by arguably the biggest artist on the planet.

 

Aside: 'Cruel Summer' in particular being so high is really reviving the 'here's how Cruel Summer can still be a single' narrative. We've had a couple of other songs get a proper push and become big hits despite being a few albums old recently, you know you want to Taylor, the people want it more than 'Karma' :teresa:
