Agree but it’s also not unreasonable for fans to expect/want to hear 1 song from the artists biggest commercial success and how they gained said fans in the first place.

 

I’ve seen him 20+ times now and I don’t expect to hear ‘Every Kingdom’ in full but he never ever revisits it, not even 1 song.

I do understand but I think it’s clear what to expect from him by now. I’ve only seen him once, at Alexandra Palace when he was touring his second album. I remember him being very uneasy on stage and he seemed to take himself very seriously. Didn’t really engage with the crowd at all. Naturally we did get a handful of Every Kingdom tracks but some were performed very differently to fit the tone of the second album. I enjoyed it but lots of the crowd just talked through the whole thing, so annoying.

 

I’ve never seen him since and I wouldn’t be overly bothered about going again

Hanging on at #9 in the mids - streaming won’t be kind to it though once the missing data is added so it’s going to be his first studio album to miss the Top 10 :drama:

 

 

It’s actually not a bad album!

Went to Ben’s Rough Trade signing and the fan event after for 100 people last night, such a great night - I’m literally obsessed with this album now such a shame that it’s passed most people by, it’s his most commercial work since his debut but the last album killed off momentum totally so has stopped people seeking out this one.

I used to be a huge huge fan, I considered him my 2n fav artist for most of the 2010s but now I didn't even checked this album once

I haven't been playing both of them yet, but still play "Time Is Dancing" like at least once a week. His 2 first albums are masterpieces.

I've only really listened to 'Life in the Time' from this album so far, it was a bit jarring to start with but I've really grown to quite like it.

The first time I played the new album I was a bit :huh: but I think I was still recovering from the horror that was ‘Collections From The Whiteout’ but now I’m fully invested in the new album and can’t stop playing it.

oh I did stream it yesterday and liked it a lot, definitely he corrected the mess of the dressner album

Saw Ben Howard live this week and was great. He played most of the last album, which I really enjoyed

but also some old songs, Black Flies <3 being the highlight of the gig

but also Gracious, Diamonds, I Forgot were we were and Nica Libres at Dawn.
