May 5, 20233 yr Author Radio 1 actively supporting Eurovision once again this year by A-listing Mae Muller! Why a random post-album single from Beyoncé needed to jump from C-list straight to A-list I have no idea  surely it would have made more sense to A-list 'Daylight' instead? Aitch straight to B-list then booted off just 3 weeks later :o is there a reason for that? Kinda surprised Hozier wasn't A-listed. I was just wondering earlier this week why Harry Styles hadn't pushed another single from his album yet and poof! here it is. Could have done without that Kim Petras & Nicki Minaj thing being playlisted but there we go.
May 5, 20233 yr Aitch straight to B-list then booted off just 3 weeks later :o is there a reason for that? He was teasing new music on Insta ysterday. I don't think Round 2 was actually meant to be a big comeback song anyway. In the run up he said there would be a much more commercial song afterwards - so the removal may be prepping for that. Also its clear Round 2 is going to do nothing anyway :D But then you could probably argue that about a fair number of songs on the playlist
May 5, 20233 yr The B-list has a lot of short runners at the minute, hence the poor runs for Aitch, Hozier, FLO and Tyler, The Creator. Though I’m surprised at the lack of A-list support for FLO considering they won Sound Of 2023, that’s two songs now that have stalled on the B-list. Odd Beyoncé jumping to A-list - as far as I’m aware there’s no remix like the Lizzo song that did the same. Happy to see Ben Hemsley get added (if only they playlisted ‘Erase Me’) and Tom Grennan as Tune of the Weekend.
May 5, 20233 yr Disappointing about Flo - if it was going to gain success it would've needed a lot longer on the playlist. I hope this relatively quick drop is because they have something else up the pipeline, but it was obviously their big attempt at a hit single. Welp.
May 5, 20233 yr The amount I've heard that Sub Focus track, I thought it was already A Listed. Is anyone else playing that Beyonce track? I get the record company wanting to get some hype around her UK dates, but I haven't seen any hype around it being pushed as a single. See they're still on board with Jess Glynne, but I'm really surprised at no Foo Fighters add given how strong Radio 1 support has been for them in the past. Are they finally done with them? May 5, 20233 yr I did wonder whether they'd support Jess Glynne, or whether it would be a La Roux type situation where they didn't bother after being away for so long.
May 5, 20233 yr I did wonder whether they'd support Jess Glynne, or whether it would be a La Roux type situation where they didn't bother after being away for so long. To be fair, La Roux kind of started flopping towards the end of her first album era; Jess Glynne has had like 10+ top ten hits (including features), several of those number ones. She's essentially a bit too big for them to ignore, while La Roux could be seen as a flash in the pan.

May 5, 20233 yr I’m probably repeating myself but I do wonder why they don’t just instant A List artists like Beyoncé, Harry Styles etc than them moving up the rotation as they will end up there anyway in a big era. Means they could enter high rotation quickly and maybe be on the playlist for a shorter amount of time overall.

Didn’t stop them from ignoring Pink this era which obviously had much more hype than Jess’s, I don’t think anyone would have noticed if they passed on Jess :kink:

May 9, 20233 yr I wish they’d stop snubbing Sigala. And besides, Mae, Caity and Stefflon don’t exactly appeal to the r2 crowd Edited May 11, 20233 yr by Hadji
