Went to the Moco Museum today to see Robbie's art work.

I really did enjoy it -the pieces are large, vibrant, positive, uplifting, amusing and felt very genuine/real/authentic.

There were plenty of people there and it felt right at home with the rest of the museum - in with the Banksy's and the Damian Hirst's 😍

I could hear people walking round chuckling at they read what he had to say.

I so enjoyed the museum I became a member so I can go back and have another look. Well worth a visit. 😀

As a PS - the words Robbie uses for discussing mental health are so uplifting -he would be an excellent mental health ambassador. ❤️

Perhaps it's a sign of the times that many furniture launches in the past year have offered to provide sitters with a comforting hug (Pearson Lloyd's Hug for Cozmo, in particular, springs to mind, as does Eri by Fumie Shibata for Flexform). The latest however is from Dutch furniture brand Moooi, which has teamed with pop star and recently-turned artist Robbie Williams, to create the 'Introvert' chair.

Its curved, compact form has a padded – dare we say 'cauliflower-like' – surface made using a 3D quilting technique. To enhance the cocooning effect, it's upholstered in a woolly, tactile blend of virgin wool, alpaca, and cotton and features an optional matching pillow that hugs the body. Perched on a concealed swivel base, this is a seat, Moooi and Williams tell us, designed for those that seek quiet refuge from the world.

'The 'Introvert' chair is more than just a place to lounge, it’s a whole mood,' Williams explains. 'In a world that rarely slows down, we often crave a place of respite, and this chair is just that. Its soft fabric and gentle curves create a sanctuary that offers complete comfort and calm, reminding me of the power that art and design have not only in shaping our spaces, but in transforming how we feel within them.'

Earlier this year, the star revealed how, despite his extrovert reputation, he can feel frightened by social interaction and panic when a stranger approaches him. The 'Introvert' chair reflects that lived experience: a desire to withdraw without disappearing.

'Robbie’s creativity transcends mediums,' comments Marcel Wanders, Moooi’s founder and artistic director. 'With the 'Introvert' chair, he channels that vision into a design of remarkable clarity – sculptural, daring, and deeply personal.'

The pairing makes sense. Moooi has always embraced a certain theatricality – from a lamp in the form of a life-size horse to Maarten Baas’ charred 'Smoke' chair – yet here, Williams has arrived at something unexpectedly restrained. 'Introvert' may be one of the brand’s quieter pieces, although it’s worth noting that quiet is relative when it comes to Moooi.

Williams’ first step into furniture follows his exploration of ceramics with 1882 Ltd and the development of his practice as a visual artist. Like his music, this creative chapter is both bold and vulnerable, circling themes of anxiety, shame, ego, humour and healing. Since 2023, his artworks have taken centre stage at the Moco Museum in Amsterdam, Barcelona and London, where his third solo exhibition, Radical Honesty, unveiled the chair to the public.

Robbie Williams in The Introvert Chair for Moooi

British musician Robbie Williams has created an enveloping chair for Dutch furniture brand Moooi, featuring a generously padded seat designed to mimic the feeling of a hug.

The Introvert Chair marks the first foray into furniture design for Williams, who is known for his global hits, including Angels and Let Me Entertain You.

The armchair features a gently curved shape, wrapped in a tactile blend of virgin wool, alpaca and cotton, which was 3D-quilted and stretched over a generously padded seat to mimic the feeling of an embrace.

"In a world that rarely slows down, we often crave a place of respite, and this chair is just that," Williams said.

"Its soft fabric and gentle curves create a sanctuary that offers complete comfort and calm, reminding me of the power that art and design have – not only in shaping our spaces, but in transforming how we feel within them."

Williams was motivated to create the enveloping furniture in response to his own experience with mental health challenges, which he has discussed candidly throughout his career.

"The Introvert Chair is designed as a comforting sanctuary channelled by Robbie's own personal mental health journey and advocacy," Moooi explained.

Optional matching cushions were designed to allow the user to "nest in their own way".

While The Introvert Chair is Williams's first furniture design, the singer-songwriter is no stranger to expanding his creative outputs, having also produced ceramics and paintings in recent years.

Among other musicians who have ventured into the design world is Justin Bieber, who collaborated with Italian brand Vespa to create a monochrome version of its classic Sprint scooter, surrounded by a ring of icy white flames to give it a "Justin spin".

Bruno Mars also joined forces with North American studio Yabu Pushelberg to conceive the interiors of a cocktail lounge and live music venue at the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas.

The words 'Robbie Williams' and 'Introvert' aren't often thrown together, but a new furniture collaboration sees an unexpected, sculptural design come to life with the singer's new Introvert Chair (available at Mooi).

Made in partnership with bespoke brand Moooi, the seat is the 'Angels' singer's first foray into the world of interior design, and he is making a statement with a cream accent chair made for coccooning in addition to serving as a piece of decor on its own.

'The Introvert Chair is more than just a place to lounge, it's a whole mood,' Robbie comments. 'In a world that rarely slows down, we often crave a place of repose, and this chair is just that. Its soft fabric and gentle curves create a sanctuary that offers complete comfort and calm, reminding me of the power that art and design have... not only in shaping our spaces, but in transforming how we feel within them.'

While it's Robbie's first stab at furniture design, the singer has been experimenting with art and sculpture over the last few years, which is evident in the chair's intricate and multi-dimensional silhouette.

'Robbie's creativity transcends mediums,' Moooi's founder and artistic director Marcel Wanders states in the press release. 'We are thrilled to partner with Robbie for his first collaboration with a piece that fits seamlessly into Moooi's world of whimsical ingenuity and innovation.'

Made of woolly, tactile upholstery and with a padded feel, the soft yet structured chair makes an excellent addition to any calming living room or lounge area. Reminiscent of the ever-popular boucle chair, its subtly textured material maintains visual intrigue, while its cream color allows it to fit into a variety of aesthetics, from modern minimalist to Japandi.

Tune the World Out With the Introvert Chair by Robbie Williams

Stress, overwhelm, and chaos are typical in our society, bolstered and even encouraged by the powers that be. If the pressures of the world get to be too much sometimes, and you’re the type of person that recharges from being alone, the Introvert Chair by pop icon Robbie Williams for Moooi was made specifically for you. Upholstered in a textured, creamy fabric, this low-slung armchair comes with an optional Security Blanket, with wise words to take heed: “the introvert will leave the chair when the introvert is ready and not before.” This project stems from capturing the quiet desire to embody stillness, without disappearing completely – a sentiment drawn directly from Williams’ own lived experience.

A round, textured armchair sits on a beige floor with headphones resting on the seat; large silver speakers stand in the background.

Designed as a “gentle rebellion against overstimulation,” the Introvert Chair is part sculpture, part sanctuary. Its generously padded wooden frame and enveloping curves create a cocoon-like shape that hugs the body, helped along by an internal swivel mechanism that adds a subtle sense of ease and movement. The fabric – a blended composition of virgin wool, alpaca, and cotton – is crafted using an innovative 3D quilting technique that transforms the material into a sculptural surface. The raised texture gives nod to many facets of nature we interact with every day – like river rocks or clouds – introducing a comforting tactile response to ground us in the moment. Each cover is individually stitched, a testament to Moooi’s meticulous craftsmanship and detail.

A modern room with gold walls features a textured white armchair centered in front of large silver acoustic panels and flanked by two speakers.

As more and more of our free time, or whatever you want to call it, is chipped away, what remains? And are we better for it? As Meg Lewis stated at Adobe MAX this year, “We’re all very complicated. The world wants to put us in boxes and categorize us, so it’s easier for boring adults to move on to their next boring problem. I’m full of contradictions of what the world doesn’t say goes together – I’ve learned to incorporate everything about who I am into my work.” This, couched within a presentation, is a call to action: let people be themselves, even if it’s a bit out of the norm. Even if it’s way out of the norm. More grace and understanding is sorely needed, an essential ingredient in the fabric of society. The Introvert Chair is a visual cue: if that Security Blanket comes out, someone is seriously in need of a slower, quieter reality, a place to process.

While both cheeky and a warning to those in the know, the double-sided blanket is rendered in ivory and pink, the opposite colors showcased on the back. Optional matching Comfort Cushions allow for further nesting – a full emotional support system disguised as design.

This marks Robbie Williams’ first foray into furniture, though he’s no stranger to creative reinvention. Since 2023 his expressive artworks have appeared across Moco Museum locations in Amsterdam, Barcelona, and London, culminating in his Radical Honesty exhibition, where the Introvert Chair originally premiered. His artistic universe leans heavily into vulnerability – a blend of anxiety, humor, ego, shame, and healing that mirrors the contradictions many of us carry. According to Williams, “The Introvert Chair is more than just a place to lounge, it’s a whole mood. In a world that rarely slows down, we often crave a place of respite, and this chair is just that. Its soft fabric and gentle curves create a sanctuary that offers complete comfort and calm, reminding me of the power that art and design have… not only in shaping our spaces, but in transforming how we feel within them.”

A white, textured, rounded armchair with a pink and white patterned blanket draped over one side and onto the seat.

Moooi founder Marcel Wanders echoes the sentiment: “Robbie’s creativity transcends mediums. With the Introvert Chair, he channels that vision into a design of remarkable clarity – sculptural, daring, and deeply personal. We are thrilled to partner with Robbie for his first design collaboration with a piece that fits seamlessly into Moooi’s world of whimsical ingenuity and innovation.”

A pink blanket titled "The Introvert Chair" lists rules about using the chair for social breaks, engaging respectfully, and leaving when ready. White text and symbols illustrate the guidelines.

The Introvert Chair by Robbie Williams for Moooi just launched globally through Moooi stores and online for $4,395, with pillows and blanket sold separately. For more information moooi.com.
