2003- Madonna- Love Profusion

'Love Profusion' was the third UK single from Madonna's ninth studio album 'American Life'. This would go on and peak at #11 in the UK, it would be her first song to miss the Top 10 since 'One More Chance' in 1996. In the US this didn't chart at all in the Billboard Hot 100. This is one that I'm not that familiar with from Madonna but this is all right from Madonna might be in the minority on here who probably thinks that.

2003- Will Young- Leave Right Now

'Leave Right Now' was the lead single from Will Young's second studio album 'Friday's Child'. This would go on and become Will Young's fourth and last UK #1 to date where it stay at #1 for two weeks before knocked off the top spot by 'Changes' from Ozzy & Kelly Osbourne. This from Will Young was probably one of the best songs that he did.

2004- Kylie Mingoue- I Believe In You

'I Believe in You' was the lead single from Kylie Minogue's second major greatest hits album 'Ultimate Kylie'. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK, becoming her highest charting single since then. One that I haven't heard for a while but this sounds great from Kylie Minogue.

2004- Snow Patrol- Run

'Run' was the second single from Snow Patrol's third album 'Final Straw'. This would go on and peak at #5 in the UK, in 2008 this would re-enter thanks to Leona's noisy cover version at #28 in the UK. The original 'Run' was by far superior compared to the Leona version where took an song and ruined it thanks it to being performed on the Live Lounge in 2007, a year later that version was released where it undeservedly peaked at #1 in the UK where it would stay there for two weeks.

This would go on and peak at #3 in the UK thanks to Saltburn last year this made an welcome return to the charts by climbing to #26 almost exactly an year ago. This is an great song and it certainly was an welcome return for this.

2006- Hi_Tack- Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U)

Sampled:

Gavin And Stacey Club Scene:

'Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U) was the debut UK single from Dutch house music group Hi_Tack. This would go on and peak at #4 in the UK, this samples the 1983 song 'Say Say Say' by Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney. This is a great song indeed from Hi-Tack, one that I couldn't really tire of this. For Gavin & Stacey fans this was the song that was played at the nightclub in the first ever episode where Stacey met Gavin for the first time in London, and when Smithy met Nessa.

2007- The Ordinary Boys- I Luv U

That Walkout:

'I Luv U' was the third single from The Ordinary Boys' third album 'How to Get Everything You Ever Wanted In Ten Easy Steps'. This would go on and peak at #7 in the UK this would be their final single as they split up the following year. And also the song came out during an particular TV appearance where Preston walked off the show 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks'.

2008- One Night Only- Just For Tonight

Nearly Famous:

Say You Don't Want It

'Just For Tonight' was the second single from One Night Only's debut album 'Started a Fire'. This would go on and peak at #9 in the UK becoming their highest charting single and their only Top 20 hit. This was also the theme tune for an E4 programme called 'Nearly Famous'. Their official music video for some reason cuts the second part of the song. This was an all right song from them, I seem to also remember their 2010 song 'Say You Don't Want It' where the music video premiered on Channel 4, which starred one Emma Watson.

2004- Deepest Blue- Give It Away

'Give It Away' was the second single from Deepest Blue's debut album 'Late September'. This would go on and peak at #9 in the UK, this is one that I have admit that I'm not really that familiar with sorry but this sounds all right from Deepest Blue.

2007- The View- Same Jeans

'Same Jeans' was the third single from The View's debut album 'Hats Off to the Buskers'. This would go on and peak at #3 in the UK their highest charting single to date and their only Top 10 hit. I was quite a fan of this when this came out although it's not one that I hear on the radio nowadays. In 2023 however they would appear in the headlines thanks to this on-stage brawl:

That Brawl

2009- All-American Rejects- Gives You Hell

'Gives You Hell' was the lead single from All-American Rejects' third studio album 'When the World Comes Down'. This would go on and peak at #18 in the UK becoming their 3rd UK Top 40 hit. In the US this would fare better by peaking at #4 in the Billboard Hot 100. This was one when this came out it became a grower through each play.

2004- Stereophonics- Moviestar

'Moviestar' was the fourth and final single from Stereophonics' fourth studio album 'You Gotta Go There To Come Back'. This would go on and peak at #5 in the UK for them. This is one that I haven't heard for quite a while but it is quite underrated from Stereophonics.

2007- Klaxons- Golden Skans

'Golden Skans' was the second single from Klaxons' debut album 'Myths of the Near Future'. This would go on and peak at #7 in the UK which would their highest charting single to date. I was quite the fan of this song when this came out and I still am now. I remember this oddly for featuring on an television trailer for 'Waterloo Road'.

2008- The Feeling- I Thought It Was Over

'I Thought It Was Over' was the lead single from The Feeling's second studio album 'Join with Us'. This would go on and peak at #9 in the UK. This was one at the time I thought I shouldn't like but it ended up being a bit of a guilty pleasure this from The Feeling. One again that I haven't heard for a while. To date this was The Feeling's last UK Top 40 hit.

'Golden Skans' was one I wasn't too crazy on at the time but really like on revisiting nowadays.

'I Thought It Was Over' was a solid comeback for The Feeling imo. A little bit exaggerated with the 6 weeks on top of my personal chart though now looking back as that album was a step down sadly but was into the lead a lot then.

2005- Duran Duran- What Happens Tomorrow

'What Happens Tomorrow' was the second single from Duran Duran's eleventh studio album 'Astronaut'. This would peak at #11 in the UK, this is one that I can honestly say that I don't remember when this came out from Duran Duran. Their previous single from the previous year '(Reach Up) For The Sunrise' yes I remember that well. This is an all right song from Duran Duran and is an welcome discovery this song since I started doing this series.

2003- Kelly Osbourne- Shut Up

'Shut Up' was the second single from Kelly Osbourne's debut album 'Shut Up'. This would go on and peak at #12 in the UK. I can't say that I remember this I'm afraid. This is one that I wouldn't go out my way to listen to again.

2007- The Fray- How To Save A Life

Big Brother 8 Best Bits:

'How To Save A Life' was the debut UK single from The Fray from their debut studio album of the same name. This would go on and peak at #4 in the UK, this would re-entered the charts twice in 2012 at #34 due the 59p song era on iTunes. I think and #27 in October due to an performance on The X Factor. I remember this seemed to be everywhere during 2007, this is one that I did get fed up of hearing after it hearing constantly on the radio, I also remember this being used as the music for the best bits of 'Big Brother 8 UK'.

2008- Mark Brown ft Sarah Cracknell- The Journey Continues

Lloyds TSB Advert:

'The Journey Continues' was an collaboration between producer Mark Brown and Sarah Cracknell the lead singer of Saint Etienne. This would go on and peak at #11 in the UK, this sampled 'Eliza's Aria' which was the music for the animated 'For The Journey' commercials from Lloyds TSB Bank.

2001- Rui Da Silva ft Cassandra- Touch Me

'Touch Me' was an collaboration between Portuguese house music producer Rui da Silva and British singer Cassandra Fox. This would go on and peak at #1 in the UK where it would stay there for one week. This was the first time that an act from Portugal had topped the UK charts. I couldn't find the official music video for this, I do apologize.

2002- P!nk- Get The Party Started

Shirley Bassey Cover:

'Get The Party Started' was the lead single from P!nk's second studio album 'Missundaztood'. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK where it would be pipped to the #1 spot by Enrique Iglesias. In the US this would go on and peak at #4 int eh Billboard Hot 100, apparently this was meant for Madonna on her album 'Music'. This would be covered although bizarrely but it did work by Shirley Bassey. Her version would peak at #47 in the UK.

2004- Boogie Pimps- Somebody To Love

Original:

'Somebody To Love' was the debut single from German electric music duo Boogie Pimps. This would go on and peak at #3 in the UK, this was an cover of Jefferson Airplane's original from 1967. The music video to this from Boogie Pimps was probably one of the bizarre music videos from 2004 with contained an model in her swimwear and babies falling out the sky in parachutes.

'You' was the final single from S Club 7's third studio album 'Sunshine'. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK.

2008- The Wombats- Moving to New York

'Moving to New York' was an re-release from The Wombats' debut studio album 'A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation. This would go on and peak at #13 in the UK, I remember this well from The Wombats and thought this was all right from them, it isn't one that I have heard for an while.

2000- Embrace- You're Not Alone

'You're Not Alone' was the second single from Embrace's second studio album 'Drawn from Memory' This would go on and peak at #14 in the UK, this is one that I'm really not famailar with or seeing this on Top of The Pops, sorry. But this is definitely listenable from Embrace.

2006- Charlotte Church- Moodswings (To Come At Me Like That)

'Moodswings (To Come at Me Like That)' was the fourth and final single from Charlotte Church's fifth studio album 'Tissues And Issues'. This would go on and peak at #14 in the UK, this was one that I vaguely remember. I would say that the music video is quite impressive. From her 'Tissues and Issues' era, I would say that 'Crazy Chick' was the highlight from that album.

2009- The Prodigy- Omen

'Omen' was the first single from The Prodigy's fifth studio album 'Invaders Must Die'. This was The Prodigy's first single since 2005. This would go on and peak at #4 in the UK becoming their highest-charting single since 1996. This would come 100th in my Top 100 Songs of the 2000s which I did back in 2015. This is an great song from The Prodigy with vocals from the much missed Keith Flint.

'Omen' was the first new Prodigy release that I can remember, so I'm glad I got to witness that last hurrah of them achieving hit songs in real time, before becoming more of an albums act. Invaders Must Die had a great singles run in general.

Keith indeed much missed.

"You" - best S Club 7 single,

Hi,

Don't think 'Mundian to Bach Ke' was one from the worst songs of 2003, there were plenty that would topple that.

"You" is probably in my S Club Top 5 singles.

Thanks for commenting, 🙂

2001- Wheatus- Teenage Dirtbag

'Teenage Dirtbag' was the lead single from Wheatus' self-titled debut album. This would go on and peak at #2 in the UK, in the US this didn't chart in the Billboard Hot 100. This would re-enter the UK Charts in 2011 and 2012 thanks to the iTunes 59p songs era, #35 in 2011 and #36 in 2012. It would re-enter the UK Charts in 2023, where it would remain in the Top 40 for three weeks by climbing to #34. In the music video Jason Biggs from American Pie would play the main character and for American Pie fans Mena Suvari aka Heather would play the love interest. This is tolerable to listen to about once an month.

2002- George Michael- Freeek!

'Freeek!' was the lead single from George Michael's fifth and final studio album 'Patience'. This would go on and peak at #7 in the UK. This would contain samples of 'Try Again' by Aaliyah, 'Breathe and Stop' by Q-Tip and 'N.T' by Kool & The Gang. The music video for this would get the BBC in trouble by the BSC where they got 68 complaints for the imagery of the music video.

Sampled:

2005- Basement Jaxx- Oh My Gosh

'Oh My Gosh' was the lead single from Basement Jaxx's greatest hits album 'The Singles'. This would go on and peak at #8 in the UK. The music video for this was probably one of the most bizarre of 2005 with it being set on an retirement home and elderly men and woman going on about how they really like each other. This is all right from Basement Jaxx far better than the advert fodder song 'Do Your Thing'.

2005- Rachel Stevens- Negotiate With Love

'Negotiate with Love' was the lead single from Rachel Stevens' second studio album 'Come and Get It'. This would go on and peak at #10 in the UK. 2008- Utah Saints- Something Good '08

Original:

Which Sampled:

'Something Good '08 was an remixed version of the 1992 original. This would go on and peak at #8 in the UK. This was on the playlist during the spring and summer of 2008, an great remix. The original contained an vocal sample from Kate Bush's 'Cloudbusting'.

2008- Kylie Minogue- Wow

'Wow' was the second UK single from Kylie Minogue's tenth studio album 'X'. This would go on and peak at #5 in the UK. This is such a great song from Kylie, this was played everywhere during the winter of 2008, I remember me and my school friends were massive fans of this song from Kylie. This is one that I couldn't really tire of from Kylie.
